Basileus γ Gamma Driver Shaft - The Basileus γ (Gamma) Shaft is designed to complement a golfer's swing, aiming to translate power and intent into ball striking. This shaft focuses on an engineered flex profile to potentially help achieve a desired ball flight and distance.
Its design is rooted in a blend of characteristics. Classified as a "C" type on the AB map, it features a more gradual flex in the handle and mid-section, reminiscent of C-Type designs. However, the Basileus γ incorporates elements from A-Type shafts (like the Basileus α/Fiamma) from the mid-section to the tip. This hybrid approach, designated A+C-Type, results in a shaft that allows for a loading sensation in the hands, which then transitions to a noticeable acceleration through the impact zone.
With T/C and C/B values (0.44 and 0.57 respectively for the 50S model) characteristic of a C-Type, the Basileus γ emphasizes the transfer of power generated from the handle's flex into tip speed. Feedback from human testing suggests that some testers experienced increased clubhead speed, with comments highlighting a feeling of the "head accelerating" and "tangible acceleration."
The shaft's low torque design is intended to allow the clubface to move through impact consistent with the golfer's swing path, potentially reducing unwanted face rotation and promoting a more controlled connection. For golfers who prioritize a smooth, consistent flex throughout the swing while seeking a distinct sense of tip acceleration, the Basileus γ could be a suitable option.
