The Mizuno Pro M-15 is a "hot metal blade" iron set engineered for the player who values a blend of modern technology and classic feel. It challenges the conventional idea that a single structure is optimal for every iron in the bag, and instead, offers a collection of three distinct solutions to meet the specific demands of long, mid, and short-range shots.
The design of the M-15 is strategically varied by club number:
Long Irons (#4-#7): Power and Forgiveness These clubs are designed for players seeking maximum confidence and distance. Approximately 50 grams of tungsten are precisely placed in the head, which expands the thin-walled area of the sole and increases the rebound effect for higher ball speeds. This strategic weight placement also lowers the center of gravity and deepens its position, helping to produce a high, penetrating ball flight that maximizes carry distance and forgiveness.
Mid-Iron (#8): Bridging the Gap This single club serves a critical role, acting as a deliberate bridge between the long and short irons. It is intentionally designed without tungsten to provide a stable, predictable distance, ensuring a smooth transition and consistent distance gaps throughout the set.
Short Irons (#9-GW): Control and Feel These clubs are all about precision and feel. They feature a semi-hollow structure and a higher center of gravity, which allows for increased spin control, helping you stop the ball on the green. The integrated face and neck construction ensures the soft, solid feel that is a hallmark of Mizuno's forging process.
Beyond the unique, club-specific designs, the Mizuno Pro M-15 is built with signature craftsmanship and advanced technologies that enhance its performance. The Contour Ellipse Face, featured in the 4 through 8-irons, is a new design with a variable thickness that improves ball speed across a wider area of the clubface, maintaining stable performance on off-center hits. A thin layer of copper underlay plating provides a slightly softer sensation at impact, making the ball feel like it connects with the face for a moment longer. This, combined with Mizuno's unique Grain Flow Forged process, ensures a continuous grain flow from the neck to the face, resulting in an exceptionally soft and consistent feel.
