When TSG first introduced Yamaha Golf Products to the world outside of Japan people really didn’t know what to think.  Truth is Yamaha has been making some of the best quality Japanese Golf Equipment for many years and that doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon.  Their top of the line series called “Tour Model” is always limited edition and usually goes quick in the TSG Online Store,  this year based on popular demand globally (thanks TSG?) they have increased production by one third,  furthermore they have added a Wedge to the Tour Model series next to the muscle back, cavity back and pear shaped driver.   Enter the RMX Tour Model Wedge for 2014.

In 2013 it was called the Inpres X wedge and a great wedge it was and still is all around just a forgiving package yet I would consider mid sized geared to satisfy the in between compact and mid sized crowd.  This year they did a little nip and tuck bringing it’s dimensions down, firming up feel and enhancing performance.  In the image above you see a honey comb looking milling effect all over the face,  the pictures don’t capture it entirely but in hand you will notice that it’s very different and appealing. Overall this wedge simply looks better from all angles than the previous version especially when looking down at it. (as seen below)

More good news is it’s Endo forged like the rest of the Tour Model Irons and made of sublime feeling S20C,  The bad news is it’s only available in 3 lofts 52/56/58 which will leave a few out yet can still satisfy most players.  You have got a couple of options when it comes to shafts, the standard JDM staple S200 and the NS Pro Modus 3 which is 112g for a total weight of (458g)  I personally prefer the Modus although the tried and true S200 is no slouch just a little heavier overall in total weight (470g)  Worth considering to match with your tempo.  So now Yamaha offers 2 wedges the RMX Forged which is the more forgiving cavity version and the tour model blade style wedge as seen in this blog post.

Why is there only a gap of 2 degrees between the 56 and highest lofted wedge? Why not offer a 60 degree wedge?
