eisenhower-golfFor the first time in history, a former President of the United States has been officially inducted in to the World Golf Hall of Fame.  How cool is that?  According to news that’s coming in, former President Dwight Eisenhower has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for each and every thing he did to help popularize and completely revitalize the sport of golf after World War II.

November 2nd, Eisenhower Inducted

When he is finally inducted, which will take place this upcoming November 2nd and will be done, obviously posthumously, he will be the first and only President to be inducted.  The ceremony will take place at the World Golf Village.  When asked about this, Arnold Palmer was extremely quick to comment, and sing the former President’s praises:

“One would be hard-pressed to find any single person who did more to popularize the game of golf, not only in the United States but throughout the world, than President Eisenhower…His visibility, coupled with his passion for the game, were the inspiration for literally millions of people picking up the game for the first time…Those involved in golf today owe him a great debt of gratitude.”

Member of Augusta National

I was unaware that Eisenhower was actually a member of the famed Augusta National and was even friends with Cliff Roberts, who founded the home of the Masters alongside golf legend Bobby Jones.  Not convinced?  There’s even a Tree named after Eisenhower on the 17th hole as well as a cabin that bears his name.

Well Done World Golf Hall of Fame

Bottom line, World Golf Hall of Fame got this one right, very right and we’re glad to see someone outside the world of golf get noticed and appreciated for doing so much to help make the sport what it is today.  Golf fan?  You owe Eisenhower.  Enough said.

It is refreshing to see any kind of open mindedness when it comes to something that’s comity selected. LOL… I wonder what Dwight’s handicap was.
