Wish for rain – get a typhoon

As I’ve noted on the blog in recent days, it hasn’t rained here in Chiba in over 2 weeks. Grass is browning and golf course maintenance crews have been battling the sweltering heat.  Yesterday however our wish for some rain came through in the form of typhoon no. 6 which is slowly making its way across the country from southern Japan since yesterday.  No. 6 is huge with its radius spanning well across Japan.  The problem is, its moving at a snails pace meaning instead of quickly blowing over and dumping a short period of rain on us its taking 3 days to move from west to east. So its 3 days of heavy rain and strong winds which will result in a lot greener grass and even lusher golf courses next week. The waves have been huge with many areas experience 6+ meter walls of water and while surfers were out early on the 18th, I don’t think they would risk their lives doing so now though according to the news last night several youngster hanging around the southern beaches have gone missing in the big waves. The good news is the temperatures have declined from 35C down to around 27-28C however the moisture level has jumped up to over 90%. The hard part now is walking the dog. (^_^)

The video below is from the news showing some if the power of the typhoon. Living life in Toronto sure was different from Japan with no earthquakes, tsunamis or typhoons but I still love it here!

    Awwwww…… the grass is browning a little bit from not having any rain for 2 weeks, are ya, awwwwwwww………….. dude, we haven’t had rain since MARCH, mmmmmmK? Yes, that’s MARCH. It’s bone dry here and we’re into the brush fire season. Brown course? Sheesh. You would dry up into a crisp and die if you had to come and play in SoCal, my friend, that it’s so dry. We’re going to hit 100 degrees (again) tomorrow and you’re moaning about a little bit of a brown patch on the course. We have nothing but mostly brown and yellow and a little bit of green on ALL of our courses down here.
    Awwwwwww….. he’s worried that the courses are turning brown….. awwwwwww……

    LOL !!!!!

    GT man chill. I was making a simple observation about course conditions. No need to get all worked up. (^_^)

    Personally coming from the West I would prefer the dry heat over the humidity any day. I’d love to come to play in Socal in the scorching heat! (^_^)

    @gocchin:
    I wish I could chill – it’s going to be at least 95 today, I don’t think I can chill LOL
    But – Typhoon storms are bad. Scary. Them winds freak me out.

    @HM:

    Yeah the winds are certainly scary… some of the waves now are hitting 8 to 10 meters. No surfers out today I think!
