ggn_110408_ust1We’ve heard that Tiger Woods has been in the market for new driver and fairway wood shafts, we’ve heard that players of all different skill levels are looking to changing the shaft, before they change the club head, and considering that the proper shaft can completely change not only your swing, but the way you hit the ball, it’s not a bad idea.  That said, we caught wind today that United Sports Technologies, better known as UST, is launching three brand new shafts for use in your woods.

Proforce AXIVCore Line To Launch

The new shafts are part of the Proforce AXIVCore Series line and according to reports, “feature four different types of high-modulus graphite fibers in the butt section which are woven together in different directions to create a strong, stable feel.”  Looks like there will be three different shafts, each offering different flexes and tailoring to the different demands you might have for each different club.  Here are the three different shafts:

  • “Blue – Designed for players who want more feel and added spin to maximize carry distance. Available in 59-, 69-, 79-gram versions for about $90.
  • Tour Black – For faster-swinging players who need a high launch, low spin shaft to maximize distance off the tee. Available in 59-, 69-, 79-, 89-gram versions for about $140
  • Tour Red – For players who already generate a lot of ball speed, but want a lower, more-penetrating launch angle with less spin off the tee. The Tour Red has a stiffer tip to a lower ball flight, less spin and a firmer feel. Available in 69-, 79-, 89-grams versions (Stiff and X Stiff only) for about $140.”

No Word on Retail Yet

They look quite impressive and UST has long been a solid name in golf shafts.  No word as of yet for when they’ll be ready to be snatched up and purchased retail, but as soon as we know you’ll know.  Could these or something like them end up on Tiger’s clubs?
