Took some quick snaps with the Fujifilm X100 while in Tokyo today running some errands. Decided to go black and white today…

    nice T! are these straight out of the cams BW function? what manner of post processing was done? very nice pictures but they look too clean. a little grit would be perfect especially on the newspaper stand photo.

    im so close to pulling the trigger on one! any news on an x200 down the road?

    @Spoon:

    Thanks C.

    Yes the X100 has a few Monochrome film modes. No post processing really as the X100 is very sharp.

    The first shot, fresh beer 50 yen was shot from the hip (which is why I missed the head) and came out a little blurry as I was walking past her while snapping, so sharpened that one up and it actually turned out well even with the maid’s head half missing.

    The pictures naturally look clean since they are afterall resized to fit the blog.

    I do shoot in raw so even when using monochrome modes, all the color data is maintained in the images which allow for all kinds of desired variations after like these:

    Awesome photos as usual T! Something for me to consider especially for when we don’t want to lug the A33 around.

    @FatMan:

    Though the a33 compared to other dslr’s is not so bad to lug around. That’s still a very good camera!

    @frankthong:

    But an M9 costs 6 times more… PLUS I have to buy lenses that cost thousands of dollars. Love the M9 but no thanks. (^_^)

    Hi Gocchin. Do you feel that the latest firmware upgrades have improved the x100?
    Have you had the sticky aperture blade issue?
    Thanks. Rob
