Tiger Gives Golf Lesson…To Charles Barkley

BarkleyIf you were to close your eyes and imagine the celebrity with the absolute ugliest swing in the world, who immediately pops up?  If you’ve been watching ESPN or just about any Pro-Am tournament in the past 10 years, you’ve most likely just pictured none other than basketball legend Charles Barkley.  While his hook shot and rebounding prowess can never be denied, one thing is clear, no matter what he shoots, Charles Barkley makes it look painful.  Looks like he’s aiming to do something about that and has enlisted the help of some very big guns to do so.  How big?  Try Tiger Woods and Hank Haney on for size.

Barkley Not One For Name Dropping

That’s right, reports are in that Tiger Woods is giving out a bit of charity to his old friend Barkley and has been helping him on his swing.  Golf’s smoothest swing trying to iron out golf’s roughest.  I like it.  When Barkley appeared on Dan Patrick’s radio show recently, here’s what he had to say about not only the help he’s been getting, but what it’s like to golf with Woods:

“I’m not a name-dropping guy…[Woods] and Hank worked with me. Hank has spent hours and hours and hours working on my swing and I don’t ever want to take their friendship for granted.”

Dan Partick dug a bit more to see exactly what it’s like when Tiger and Charles square off against one-another, apparently it’s quite the affair…here’s what Barkley had to say about the terms of their competition:

“1. Barkley gets a stroke a hole when he plays Woods. (“It should be more but no self-respecting man can ask for more than one stroke a hole.”) 2. He and Woods will bet on golf, but never for serious money. (“It’s Monopoly money.”) 3. Woods and Michael Jordan have the same competitive fire. (“They are far and away the two most competitive guys I’ve ever met in my entire life.”)”

We’d Pay To Watch That

What we wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall during one of those battles.  At any rate, it’s great to see two greats of two different sports buddying up, and helping each other out.  Or at least, helping Charles out.
