460Today just so happens to be a great day if you’re a fan of TaylorMade and their new, and apparently wildly popular line of clubs.  Word on our end of the street is that the new R9 460 driver has been officially released and will be the second driver in the R9 family to make its way to your golf bags.

May 16 For All Of Us

Looks like you’ll be waiting until May 16th if you actually want to buy it, and will be forking out around $299 to actually start playing it.  This new R9 460 Driver will be similar to the original R9 in that it will use their Flight Control Technology (FCT), which is essentially:

“a system that allows golfers to change the face angle and lie angle of the driver by unscrewing the head from the shaft and re-attaching it in one of eight different positions. ”

Adjustable Drivers Are In This Year

We had a good feeling that adjustable drivers were going to be huge this year, and with TaylorMade, Nike and others jumping on board, it’s looking like they might be even bigger than we expected.  This new driver is 460cc, hence the 460 in its name, but unfortunately does not feature the moveable weights like the original.  TaylorMade says it makes up for this with a much deeper face as well as a lower center of gravity.  All of this should help you stop twisting through impact and should help those miss-hits be a thing of the past.

Customizable Is Key

If customizable is your thing, you should check out the R9, as TaylorMade claims up to 40 yards of trajectory change with the adjustable face.  You can even pick one of 5 different shaft flexes.  Look to spend anywhere from $299 to $399 depending on which shafts and flexes you pick.  Bottom line, TaylorMade has come to play.
