Introducing the new SEVEN Double Milled Wedge which officially goes on sale today in two finishes to choose from as well as two lofts 52* & 58*. Both lofts share that M Style grind which was a different way to do things as usually the approach wedge has less trailing edge, toe and heel relief but we felt that offering an approach wedge with a similar grind to the SW so players can open the face to hit a higher approach with more spin.

These wedges are Forged of SS400 in Kyoto and hand ground in Himeji Japan we then send the heads to golf specific plating companies to apply it’s beautiful finish after that the heads are sent to Tokyo where TSG’s master club makers  polish, add paint fill and assemble.

And yet the most intriguing part of the SEVEN Double Milled Wedge is it’s aggressive face milling,  Follow the Jump to see what extreme face milling is all about…

XF5A1517-Edit

Aggressive isn’t it?  So normally you would think it’s the dual pass face milling that creates a silly amount of spin but actually that comes secondary to it’s CNC milled deep box grooves, they are considered non-conforming to say the least.  SEVEN has been working on a unique groove pattern combined with a grind that any “wedge guy” would have a blast hitting, lay it open, flop it,  insane spin even in wet conditions have fun :)

XF5A1435-Edit-Edit

Thin top line,  semi compact in size it features a low neck transition with a slight tear drop shape we started our testing from the very basics using heads with no grooves,  light grooves,  single milled,  pressed conforming and non confoming grooves and the final result can shred covers off balls,  keep the grooves free of dirt and your chances of back spin have just increased.

The milling process is done by hand not computer so each wedge has a small degree of variance in the way the milling looks.

The Black Oxide finish will wear nicely and over time turn to a black and dull silver-grey look mostly in the impact area and sole.  side by side in the same loft the black head looks smaller and it also reflects less glare during peak hours.  As for feel it’s a toss up the make up of the NiCr satin finish has a nice feel at impact and for those like their clubs to always look prestine the brushed satin is the way to go,  also translucent paint fills show really well satin.

The sole grinds were designed for the wedge players delight  they are soft and designed completly around manipulating,  opening, and chipping with loads of spin.  The 52* with this style grind is really nice.

These retail for $500 per set of two heads in the TSG Proshop starting today, they come in a beautiful black seven box and shipped inside another box,  they can be custom built with the largest selection of shafts and grips from Japan.   Talking about cool looking builds I think the DG Tour Issue ONYX wedge shaft and a matte black NO.1 limited grip is stealth or even the satin head with translucent fill that matches the grip and ferrule.

great spin but you will need a lot of balls in the bag.

Yutaka Yes these shred balls.  But nothing beats the spin similar to my raw gekkus.
