I’ve never done it, I never will, but it’s gotta be difficult to start a round of golf, especially a round of golf with the pressure of the first round of the U.S. Open, and only get 5 or 6 holes in before you have to leave the course, wait hours to see if you’ll play again, and then go back to your hotel to find out you have to wake up at 7 am to finish your already started round. That said, that was the reality for a great deal of golfers this Friday morning, including Tiger Woods and it looks like some players were able to handle it a bit better than others.
Tiger Falters, Leaders at -2
One of the players that, surprisingly, didn’t handle it very well was Tiger Woods. To say that he was angry might be one of the understatements of the year after he finished up his first round earlier today. Knowing he had to go back out and play again seemed to be upsetting him too, here’s what he had to say when he was finally interviewed after staying even par all round only to go +4 on his final holes:
“No, I don’t want to go [right back] out there right now…I would probably be a few clubs light.”
First Round 74…Yikes
He ended the first round shooting a 74, and considering that the current leaders are sitting at -2 and there are plenty of golfers already done with their first rounds at -1, he’s clearly got a LOT of work to do when he does step back on the course for Round 2. How will he play? We’ll see.
Round 2 Gearing Up…
Round 2 is gearing up, if you’re not watching you are insane. Tune in, start making some predictions, start making your guesses as to who will play well, who will fall apart, who will come on strong and who will hold off the others. Don’t count Tiger out…we never do.
