RomaRo iBrid Driving Iron

Back in February of 2014 at the Japan Golf Fair RomaRo showed off it’s new iBrid Chapter 2 driving iron,  many months went by with no official release and customers began asking when  it will become available.  Good news is it’s now at TSG head only or with custom shaft options.  Better yet I’ve fallen heads over heels with it’s performance,  looks, and feel.  let’s dive a little deeper into the good stuff.

RomaRo iBrid Chapter 2 Driving Iron

Not many driving irons have a forged cup face,  for those not familiar with a cup face it’s basically a higher rebounding softer feeling design where the face is not welded at the edges but  more cup like wrapping around the edges before it’s welded making the face more flexible.  It’s evident that the Chapter 2 iBrid has a forged cup face because it feels so much better than any other driving iron I’ve tried it’s a more springy more spongy launch you will notice immediately at impact.

Forged Cup Face RomaRo

RomaRo Sports tell us they have worked long and hard at getting this specialty club right,  usually I would consider this a driving iron because of it’s size but but with it’s cupped face and it’s rounded almost mini hybrid design it’s really the better parts of both.

I’ve had this in play for 2 rounds and a couple of short range sessions and put it against the Epon AF-903 and the Honma TW-U both I consider true driving irons and not only was the Chapter 2 iBrid longer, better feeling, higher launching and easier to hit it also inspires a lot more confidence when looking down at it.  Epon and Honma were both slightly more accurate but also harder to hit and get into the air,  their faces did not have the forgiveness the Chapter 2 had similar to the difference between hitting a long iron vs a hybrid.

RomaRo Sports iBrid

Comparing it to my Modart MA01H hybrid which is my favorite hybrid of all time the Chapter 2 get’s closer to meeting it’s match and in an up and up battle it’s too close to call,  the MA01H  is what I consider a feel/workable/accuracy gifted hybrid  while the Chapter 2 iBrid by RomaRo had a slightly lower launch, didn’t get up in the air quite as easy but it also did better from the rough yet not the bunker.  So really both have their purposes and fit a particular need.

Back to trajectory I’m loving the ATTAS EZ/HY shaft that is a standard option .370 tip 75g  in stiff flex,  it’s designed to bring control and a stable feel,  I’m glad I chose this over the NS950 steel I usually choose for hybrids but I’m itching to try the new TRPX UT shaft or my go to Crazy Black UT.

So those are my brief initial findings on the new RomaRo iBrid Chapter 2 UT,  next we ship one of these around to a few of our best members for review so they can share their opinions and post their findings in the TSG Forum  If you are interested in purchasing head only please “click here” for the product listing and for custom shaft spec inquiries email [email protected]

Would it be fair to compare with 902 instead of 903?
