rosburgSad day in the world of Golf today as we’ve lost one of our own, and one of our most famous representatives.  Word has come in that Bob Rosburg, a former PGA Champion and long-time golf announcer has passed away at the age of 82.

Golf Legend Passes Away

Reports are saying that while Rosburg has been fighting against cancer for the last 18 months, the actual cause of death yesterday morning after sustaining head injuries that came from a fall.  He passed away in Palm Springs, California.  It’s a sad day for golf enthusiasts as not only was Rosburg the winner of the 1959 PGA Championship and an amazing tour player, but also the voice of golf for many, many years.

PGA of America Remembers Rosburg

Jim Remy, President of the PGA of America released the following quote following the sad news:

“Bob Rosburg represented the best in golf as a player, champion, gentleman and as the voice who brought viewers the best insight on what it was like for his fellow professionals to perform inside the ropes…We will dearly miss being able to help Bob celebrate this summer the 50th anniversary of winning the PGA Championship and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will forever be in our hearts as a true champion.”

After 31 years working as a PGA Announcer with ABC Sports, he will be sorely missed, and for the millions that tuned into any and all ABC Golf events, his smooth voice and humor will be seriously lacking from this point forward.

Rest in Peace

We here at GolfToImpress just want to offer our condolences to his entire family and all of his friends.  Golf will miss you Bob, thanks for all of the amazing memories, you truly helped make golf what it is today.
