J-BEAM ZII Driver

Introducing the new ZII Driver by J-BEAM.  If you know JBeam heads I can summarize: The ZII Driver that is a more forgiving version of the Blackout 435 with a higher launch angle, similar spin, and less sidespin.  when you add higher, less side spin it usually equates to longer straighter drives.  Follow the jump for more angles…

This deep faced driver with a large sweet spot screams the shape we all know and love. The laser engraved lines on the face slightly reduce spin most noticeably when the ball or face is damp or wet.

In the past J-Beam was one of the very first to utilize DAT55G face material but years ago when others began to do the same J-Beam decided to produce their own proprietary version face material and stopped disclosing detailed information about it.  It is now known as Special Composite Titanium and we love it.

One of the best things about J-Beam heads is the ability to get hand-picked specs through TSG. There are no lofts marked on the head itself you can choose 9.0 to 12* in this particular model.  Face angles 0.5* closed to 1.5* open.  The J-Beam ZII is a 450cc 2-piece head with a standard head weight of 196-198g.  SLE rule conforming.

The owner and president Kazuhiro-san has taken much of what his father has taught him and incorporated modern technology and his personal philosophy on how to create maximum distance.  This is the DNA of the brand and in the pic above a familiar view for JBeam users, they all look very similar at address.  That consistency of shape makes the brand a gem to align with.

Out of the 15 or so heads they offer,  all are very playable with different characteristics.  Some models have a hardcore cult-like following see the blackout 435 while some of the less popular models are severely underrated.  I mean who gets to hit all of them to compare?  I do,  and over time and years of playing J-Beam heads, I can say securely that I love their most difficult player’s club the blackout 435 yet I can also hit their most game improvement model the Glorious 2nd.  I hit both really well consistently thanks to the design of the club head.

J-Beam heads are also seen on the long drive tour in Japan with their support of the competitor Yasuhiro Yamazaki who has multiple victories in his career.  He has been a vital partner in promoting J-Beam as one of the more popular boutique driver brands in Japan.

J-Beam also offers the service to reaming and while this is nothing new it allows players to get even more extreme specs for example 3*+ open or flat lie.  The negative is that the hosel does not sit perfectly and may look off but for these types of specs just about everyone can deal with that.

So if you are tempted by J-Beam drivers.  btw I have been playing J-Beam heads more than any other driver brand for years,  I highly suggest looking at all of their models.  They have so many drivers in the lineup and it’s not clear which to choose.  I tend to stick with current models.  The best heads are still Blackout 435, Galpha, G-801, ZY-11, ZY-7,  Bullet and now the ZII? Hard to choose so it’s best you reach out to me at [email protected] so I can ask you some questions.  Also if you are ready to purchase this head we do have them now shipping and you may purchase by (Clicking Here)  Thanks for reading!
