GTI responds to surprise attacks from mygolfspy.com

Golf to Impress:  Bringing websites together for more information and convenience to all readers.

The Golf to Impress philosophy has been to proactively partner with other websites to share content and expertise.  This brings together specialists from all aspects of the golf industry making all websites involved more informative and convenient for its readers.

We have reached out to mygolfspy.com, among other websites, to partner up and become our exclusive content partner of pre-release US golf club information while paying him a monthly fee, advertising his website with banners, and of course giving full credit with multiple links in each post.

Both Golftoimpress and mygolfspy.com were happy with this agreement and were in the initial stages of announcing our relationship together.

Surprise attacks from mygolfspy.com

However since the official release of Golf to Impress blog website, we were caught off guard when several of our partner websites notified us that there have been harsh allegations from mygolfspy.com slandering GolftoImpress.com on multiple websites.

We are confused of why mygolfspy.com would do a surprise attack on our website, while our mutual interests were to work together.

He’s calling us scam artists and thieves on multiple websites.

GTI’s response to the attacks.

Below are his allegations and our facts.  We are interested in our readers’ opinion on this.

1.  Allegations of copying mygolfspy.com website:

Unique Blog Designs created both Mygolfspy.com and another one of our websites www.MMAfightstage.com.   Of course there will be similarities in websites by the same designer.   Different web developers, created Golftoimpress.com by changing the look and feel of MMAfighstage.com to match our other websites with no regard to mygolfspy.com.

It is widely known in the Blog industry that the online course, “The Blog Mastermind,” openly and highly suggests using the blog layout we used, and thousands of other blog websites use the same layout across every industry.

2.  Allegations of copying his content style:

The Blog Mastermind, Unique Blog Designs, and countless other How-to-Blog websites highly suggests this 2 column content style amongst a variety of other things, such as 11pt font, 1.5 spacing, bold headers & pictures throughout posts, and everything else we used to create our website the way it is.

3.  Allegations of copying blog content:

We are not sure where he is getting this.  Our main focus is on Japanese golf gear and information.  We also offer up-to-the-minute US PGA tour event news, and pre-release US and Tour Issue equipment information.

Proof mygolfspy.com is GUILTY of his exact allegations!

However, we have proof that Mygolfspy.com is guilty of this exact allegation that he is attacking us with.  Mygolfspy.com is infamous for taking images from other websites, cropping out the watermark, and adding his own watermark.  While never giving credit to the originating website or person who took the picture, but in fact taking the credit by adding his own watermark.

This is not new information.  Complaints have surfaced on a variety of websites that have had their own and their member’s images taken with no credit given where deserved.

Let’s hope that this post will get him to give the proper people credit for their time and effort in taking and posting golf  images online.

See our proof in the images below.  These clubs were purchased by TSG and the Images taken by TSG. Full versions are located in the TourSpecGolf Image Gallery.

There is no doubt that you copied your site design from mygolfspy.com. as an avid golf enthusiast, i am all for competition and several sites feeding me information. but as a web designer, it is so obvious you stole their design. don’t kid yourself. rebuild your site with your own design, and populate it with your own content. let the best site win.

My pictures are in the golf spy gallery and I did not give them permission to use it.

It has his logo on it also and I tried to write something on his blog about this but it was deleted.

My picture is the is Epon custom copper iron in the first category. I think most of the images in his gallery were taken from other web sites.

This IMO is more about his claim of us stealing his website and his content and slandering us with worlds like thief and making personal attacks. I have looked through all his blog posts and ours, none of them are the same In fact the raylor and MP-68 prototype posts were posted before his.

I really dont mind people using our content as long as they share the source but taking content and images and claiming it as their own is very dishonest. So if your another blog site reading this, yes you may use our content just please give us dual links and credit in it.

MyGolfSpy shouldn’t be complaining. He consistently steals pics from other forums, blogs & sites and not only has the nerve to meticulously remove watermarks, but the he has the audacity to add his own. That’s right. He tries to prevent others from doing the very thing he does: steal. Too bad he can’t use his mad Photoshop skillz for good instead of evil, but that’s a choice. Do you believe in karma, MGS? I do.

Want more pic examples? Go to TSG, FGI, BSG, Golfwrx. He’s stolen from them all.

Golfspy? Hardly. Unless you think someone with no conscience, a lot of time on his hands and a copy of Photoshop a spy.

Come on Chris where did you get the idea for this site? You know it was from Mygolfspy. You robbed the idea you know you did, you can’t deny that fact.

Just look at your layout and entire site concept, it is entirely the same thing as Mygolfspy.

    Your Message@Tourspecgolfer:
You are basing your whole story on the fact that you had a couple articles before them? I think they had their design before you and the entire golfspy concept way before you

    Your Message@Tim Smith:
I agree Tim, start over Chris it does not look good that you did this. I feel much different about you know and so do many others out there now

    Hi Chucky,

I want you to be specific and explain your claim of the layout and entire site concept being robbed please.

Is golfspy upset at other golf blogs with a 2 column layout, RSS feed, and U.S equipment content?

Can you see that we post mostly JDM equipment and GolfSpy doesnt?

Can you see that we cover U.S PGA Tour Event news and GolfSpy doesnt?

Can you see that we give credit to our sources and do not watermark others images?

    Hi Chucky.

No, we did not delete any comments. We actually put your 3 comments into 1. Each sentence doesn’t need to be its own comment.

**Jeff Coulton, Chucky, and Ingred Bayne have the same IP address, which means you are all the same person.**

It is now obvious that you are Adam from mygolfspy.com. Adam, please stop spamming our comments section. This blog is simply a response to your attacks against us. We have a right to state the facts.

There’s one simple way to resolve who really took the photos. Post a photo of that stone wall with the window in it without a club in the shot.

    @Mike:

Hi Mike, there are actually many ways to prove it. visit BSG, WRX, FGI and TSG and notice that the images that mygolfspy watermarked belong to dozens of different members. He surely cant be all of them. All our TSG members know we took those pics before golfspy existed also the posts are still dated in our forum. Below i have the proof, the images of that wall are from our Villa in Italy. The image of the mizuno club was taken at our home in Hawaii as well. Also if you search other images in our gallery they have the same backgrounds.

Wow I have never seen so much rubbish, the site doesn’t look anything like mygolfspy, if your basing it on 2 columns I was making 2 column sites since 1996 so does that mean mygolfspy copied me i doubt it and even if they did i wouldn’t care its just rubbish since the design isn’t the same, did no one notice both this site/tsg and mygolfspy use the same software (wordpress) its free you know and there are themes for it too (some 2 column ones) does this mean that most sites which have 2 column layouts are copies like this one: http://www.engadget.com/

The images in the gallery do seem to have been stolen by mygolfspy and his watermarked added, also if a site has a recent amount of posts section like most do and you go and get that freely downloadable addon from the creator it doesn’t mean the site stole the feature from you because you had it, if it was me i would have pursued a different action because mygolfspy can’t go around spamming people and signing up with loads of accounts and think its ok regardless of who is right or wrong.

As a web designer/developer I can say for sure if i where to ripp your content which bare in mind has a watermark i would have to edit the image remove the watermarks and make sure the cut out area had the right shadows, colours and gradients, it would take a very long time to make it look professional and since GTI/TSG has the complete un-watermarked image in their gallery for anyone to access who’s to say you didn’t steal it and add your watermarks, if this went beyond spamming mygolfspy would get laughed at.

It actually goes a bit further, mygolfspy.com in the past had dozens of our images cropped and watermarks removed then I emailed him that what he is doing is illigal and he removed all our images that had watermarks in our gallery and kept the ones that didnt have watermarks ( older pics ) yet we actually took them.

His initial excuse was that members sent it in, but i confronted him and verified they are not the ones adding the watermark and its his responsibility because its his site.

another recent point of reference for mygolfspy.com stealing others pics and watermarking them as his own is member bloodredsun on golfwrx who took the red background mizuno MP-68 images.

This is really ridiculous. And it seems as though the majority of negative comments about the GTI design are coming from MyGolfSpy.

I don’t know what else there is to talk or complain about.

Both sites used the same design company, which utilizes a similar but extremely common blog template.

And if you really want to point fingers, MyGolfSpy rarely gives credit to any pictures he gets from other sites. On top of that he throws a giant ugly water mark on top to claim them.

We all know that the copyright issue on the internet is highly debatable, but it’s only right to at least post a link of where you got the content.

MyGolfSpy just seems nervous about new competition. SpyGolfer welcomes it!
