Introducing the Eon Sports CP1 Forged Irons – This iron has been on the market over 1 year now but finally, we have been able to compile enough feedback from our customers to give you a brief rundown of how it performs along with its positives and negatives.  This iron ranked very high performance wise so we wanted to give it some light for those who are not familiar with the brand. Follow the jump to read more…

If you haven’t noticed this is a ranked product,  you can click here to find out (rankings page)  We were surprised how well this iron performs in several areas such as forgiveness, distance and its overal ease of use.  The fit and finish of the iron itself is very good which we can’t say the same for some of the other Eon Sports products but the CP1 is well made.

The CP1 uses a 455 carpenter steel L-Cup  face #5 thru #7 while #8 and on is still 455 but not L-Cup. The face itself they claim has an .082 COR.  The body is S20C forged and the entire set has some pretty strong lofts based on a PW of 44*.

We do suggest this for a mid to high handicapper as stainless steel faces are known to have distance hot spots versus a one-piece forging.   Another thing is that our client feedback for mid-high cappers has been almost only positive whereas low capper players who took the plunge on these complain about its shape and size.

The Shape also lends itself to the higher or mid-capper.  This can be a positive or negative depending on your visual preferences but the consensus seems to be shape, neck transition, offset and toe shape is this irons weakness for the lower handicap player.  If you can get over these things or do not notice them you are bound to be happy.

As usual, we prefer to show you photos of a mid-irons along with the PW.  In this day and age of cookie-cutter #6 iron based fittings done on launch monitors designed to teach staff a duplicatable process, it is often forgotten how short irons should look or how shapes benefit performance.

In my opinion, the PW looks very good considering the shape of the mid and long irons.  The offset is progressive meaning the long irons have more than the short.

The base set is 5-PW there are no longer irons available but thankfully Eon Sports has some pretty decent and forgiving hybrid clubs to choose from if you wish to remain in the brand.

TourSpecGolf is selling these heads only or shafted with Eon Sports standard carbon or NS950 offerings.  We can also install many of our high-end or exotic shaft options and if you are not sure what you get feel free to email [email protected] so we can ask you a serious of questions to get to the bottom of it.
