With the dominant performance and popularity of the Crazy 435 driver and already a Crazy 455 driver in the stable (though in fact just a George Spirits 455 driver in Crazy clothing), I didn’t think Crazy would be announcing a new driver anytime soon. Of course Crazy is always one to surprise and low and behold they announced their all new conforming Crazy 460 Driver.

The new Crazy 460 is made for a wider range of golfers unlike the 435 which was aimed at better and harder hitting players. The 460 is like the Ryoma D-1, in that it uses a monocoque (there is that word again! I’ve used it two posts in a row!!) body matched with a cold forged an all new DAT titanium face.  While Crazy touts it as suitable for a wide range of golfers, it still features a very traditional pear shape with a more high back design. The face profile is mid height and is sharper looking than the rounded curves of the CRZ-435 driver.

The Crazy 460 is available in a black head or simply Ion Plated finish with no paintfill. Lofts available are 9.5* to 12* (real loft of course).  Face angles range from square for the 9.5* to slightly closed for the higher lofts.  The head is also more upright and lighter for longer finished clubs in the 46″ length range. The CG is deep and low but the 460 is a low spin head so like the Ryoma D-1 (which still has the deepest and lowest CG) it’s made for a mid trajectory low spin ball. This is achieved by placing a heavier weight directly in the back of the head (gosh this is sounding like the Ryoma post again!). Crazy has noted that this head has the highest MOI of all their models providing more forgiveness on miss hits and more straight to draw type bias unlike the 435 which was more straight to fade with its open face and shallower CG.

We look forward to trying out the new driver very soon especially paired with all of Crazy’s new shafts.

    Oh no, another good looking driver. The one without paintfill looks sexy. Any word on the prices?

    @shacco:
    I don’t know about sexy… LOL but, it does look good. Is the head still made by George Spirits?

    If I’m reading the specs right, the 10* has a 1* closed face angle, very upright lie angle at 61* & a very light head at 190g. Not too keen on those specs. Are they customizable?

    Your Message@FatMan:
    Sexy might be the wrong word for it ;) But comparing to the Ryoma it looks much better. At least to me.

    Good that they have the 460 driver now. Been eyeing out the 435, but i do need all the forgiveness that i can get.
