Alaska Image

I’ve just returned from a week long vacation cruise to Alaska. It was some much needed R&R for TourSpecGirl and I. We’ve never been on a cruise before and it was a great experience. A bit too relaxing for me as I usually like to be out and about with my feet on land but none the less I’m recharged and ready to get back to work just in time before Tario aka Gocchin leaves for his Vacation to Canada.

Alaska is a beautiful place, the scenery was some of the most breathtaking I have seen in all of my travels.    We started in Seattle then on to Ketchikan for some salmon fishing where I caught a 25lb king and TSGirl showed me up with her 30 pounder.  We moved onward to Juneau to see the glacier then skagway to travel the white pass by train.  Our final day was spent relaxing in Price Rupert Canada.  Below a wide angle image of the forest in Juneau Alaska using my new Tamron wide angle 10-24mm f/3.5 lens.

The wide angle lens was very useful for landscape and scenery shots but the most valuable during my trip was the recently voted #1 lens of the year by Japan’s Photo Society the Tamron 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD. It’s got serious versatility and very good stabilization qualities. I’ll be posting a review of this lens later.  I’ve been shooting golf clubs for nearly 8 years now and no expert by any means. I am only now getting into more mainstream photography subjects, It’s a new hobby of mine that I’m diving right in to often with the help of Gocchin’s advice.  Here are some of my images taken in the last week.

    Beautiful pics C!

Love the train and sunset pics. I’m glad the Tamron worked out.

Its great now how we can share this photography hobby together!

You don’t really need my advice as you’ve always taken amazing photos, even long before I got into photography!

Thanks for sharing C. Been to Alaska twice to fish. Shelter Is. Lodge outside of Juneau. Its run by a bunch of Hawaii guys. They make you feel the true spirit of Ohana in Alaska. Best trips I’ve taken. There’s something about Alaska that gets into your soul and you never forget. I’m wanting so much to return again.
