Looking for some Shimada Shafts for my 2011 OnOff Forged irons as well as 3 Sky Dream Jump Type Bite wedges.

On the US site all their shafts have green stickers and they offer the "Tour" and the "Pro" for irons. For wedges they offer the "Tour Wedge" and the "Tour Wedge Black".

On the Japanese site none of the shafts have the green stickers, and they offer a "K's Tour"? For wedge shafts, there's the K's NW110 and the K's HW120...

Can someone please tell me what in the hell the deal is with all of this...

I would REALLY appreciate it.

It's actually a european company that is distributing Shimada in the USA. Tour & Pro are basically different specs than the Japanese Shimada shafts. We can get both.

Thank you for bringing up this question. I was wondering about the same discovery but then decided to go with the Japanese site offerings just because they were Japanese. Speculative - yes, but I decided to go JDM stuff all the way - even if it seems to be the same offering. But at least now I know I was right chosing the K's HW 120 for my wedges :-)

A few months ago I went through the same thing.

I looked hard at purchasing from http://www.shimadashafts.com/, which is actually out of the UK (nothing against the UK, btw), before I got spooked and bought from TSG.

Now, today, I know that when I say "I have a set of wedges with Shimada black 120g shafts in them" that I actually do have those shafts. I traded a number of emails with the good people at that web site, but never felt the level of engagement and customer service that I feel here at TSG. Maybe I am biased, but those "intangible" factors do matter.

The deal was sealed when I asked for payment options such as paypal, credit card, etc.,They said "here, flll out this form and fax it to us with your credit card info and your signature on it"!. Later, in response to my "I don't do business that way" email, they said "oh, we can take paypal or whatever you want, just let us know". Too bad they didn't address my initial question on the first pass....

For the record, I spent about $10US per shaft (shipping/handling, mostly) above what it would have cost me to order from the "official shimada shaft" site at the link. What I gained for that 10 bucks is peace of mind that I have the precise object of my desires.

Hope that helps,

Kevin

Hey Kevin, Thanks for the kind words man.

In the next day or two we will be adding the Tour & PRO green label Shimada shafts. They are still made in Japan just shipped from the UK instead of Japan. I will be posting a topic on their bend profiles and the differences hopefully tomorrow.

Why are they shipped from the UK instead of Japan and how come the different look? No questioning your knowledge just curious as to why they'd make a different looking shaft and shift out of the UK...

I had the same question,. so I emailed Shimada Europe ( UK ) ,. this was their response to the difference in K's Tours (JDM) , and Shimada Tour (UK)

The K's Tour and our TOUR shaft are the same, the flex's have been amended
for the western world so you would have to go up to X flex for the same
shaft as you currently have.

We do not have the print on our shafts, we just use the labels.

We also introduced new shafts - Pro, Pro Black, Pro Wedge Black, Tour Wedge
Black, all shafts that are new to the Shimada range.

Kind Regards

Graham

Cool, so I (i'm in Canada) should just stick to the US site then. Great! Glad to know there's no difference in quality - or least none that they want you to know about...
