I'm about to place an order for some Yamaha V forged wedges, but if I can make up my mind before I place that order, I'd also like to order a utility hybrid type club to replace my 3i. I can't just go test out any JDM product here in the the Midwest of US, so I have to get some good recommendations. My driver SS is 92-95, I have an extremely smooth transition so I don't load the shaft that much. I tend to scoop and pick the ball at impact (going to work on this) instead of hitting down w/ my irons. My mis**t is a fat shot, usually from poor weight transfer. I'm looking for a very versatile UTE, but more on the forgiving side than workable. It's usually very windy out here in Kansas, so anything that offers super high trajectory might mess me up, so I suppose a mid-mid/high trajectory would suit me best. Any head/shaft combos for my style of game are welcome. Thanks.

I just read a previous post similar to this one. Seems like the RC TRC is the general consensus. But I also read a post that it is designed for the better player, which I don't consider myself to be with a 12 handicap. Opinions?

    Which One??
12 handicap is considered a "better player"

You can play whatever you want. Now decide if you want forgiveness/ease
of use, or 3 iron like.

What suits your eye??

I used to play an old TM rescue mid 17*. That was a good size. I think I could do a touch bigger if necessary. Thanks for the white TM thingy, but I'm going to see if I can eventually upgrade all my clubs to premium JDM clubs. I'm sick of eating street food. It's time for some fine dining.

Having tried about every Ute, including the TRC, I found that the Egg Spoon Ute is the most point and shoot UTE I have found. The stock shaft is good as well. It also is anti left which I found most Utes were not. Just wants to go straight. I can hit it high or medium depending on whether I hit down or sweep it like a fairway wood. Good off the tee as well...

The TRC is good but not as easy to hit. My index is 8.7 so a 10hcp pretty close to yours.

The Egg Ute has such a smooth sole. How does it fare in the deeper stuff?

In the deep stuff it is pretty good. I would rate the TRC better out of the deep stuff (a little heavier and different sole) but the Egg Ute is better overall all-around performer.

Royal Collection does get my vote. I use the 17 degree and its the best utility in my opinion to date.

However, I just recently picked up the new ON/OFF s-type black. Haven't hit yet but it looks to be a winner as well. From a setup standpoint, a little taller than visually from the RC, but not quite as long heal to toe. Sound seems to be a little more muted from the RC as well, but like I said haven't hit yet, so review to follow.
