Hi Everybody,

Happy Holidays. I am a 15 hcp but I hit both the Callaway Razr X MB's and the Adams MB2's very well. I want to stick with blades, is the Miura 1957 Baby Blades too much of a step up for me?

Thanks for your input.

Not necessarily. I had a similar experience with them although my handicap is a bit lower than yours. Depends on the strength of your ball striking and choosing the right shaft. Certainly wont get a lot of forgiveness from them but I think you could hit them.

I think if you're a good iron player, doesn't really matter what you use as long as you can repeat 'that' swing to hit the sweet spot repeatedly.

IMHO baby blade can give you great feedback on your swing and as you practice with them over time, it an really train you. However, baby blades might and will punish you dearly for bad shots. I guess it's entirely up to you if you're willing to put in the hours/ time to practice blades to become a better player - then go for it BUT if you want to have a enjoyable weekend of golf only and minimum practice time, then get something more forgiving so that your weekend golfing trips will be more enjoyable instead of frustration.

In summary, it will get worst before it gets better lol

For blades, you can also look into:

- Epon AF Tour
- Yururi Flatback
- Yamaha

All are as forgiving as the baby blades you mention, if not more forgiving IMO

I play the tournament blades. I tried the baby blades but the biggest issue I noticed is the difference in the distance between shots hit on the screws vs mis**ts..very large difference.

I use the 1957 & once u get used to its gr8 as
U don't have anywhere else to aim when addressing
The ball. It has a really moderate bounce set up making it
Versatile in most conditions. Narrow heel to Toe makes easier turf
Interaction. Also it's static weight is the same as standard size head so it packs a punch. Not to mention super sexy lOoking.
Word of warning, once ur used to the size, it makes regular
Irons look so big (like my cb202 3iron) i feel like i don't know
Know where to aim it on the face lol.

That's a very interesting thought..... when I got my 502's way back in May, I'd thought about the 302's or even a mixed set, BUT like many people out there I was under the impression that Blade like clubs (AF Tours etc) are for the very low Handicap players.
Just a shame there isn't to much demo clubs over here in the UK

I have seen quite a few 14+ hcp that are really good iron players but quite horrid with the driver and short game. Makes matter worse is they use like the super GI's where "centre hits" with their short irons can go 20+yards difference between similar strikes or ill fitted with their lie angles etc and start developing bad alignment, swing path etc. Then they cant chip.

It's almost a taboo going to blades, i certainly felt like that a couple of years ago and i was already a single marker.

Hmm mm
Next time round I'm deffo going for a players set of Irons, I've always been around the single figure break, other than really bad putting which cost me about 5 strokes a game

I play mid teens and have been playing the 1957 blades for about a couple of months now and could not be happier. You get used to the size very quickly and I find them easier to hit than my many previous cavity backs. They really suit my eye which is half the battle.

Yep I hear on the "Suit the eye".... I think my Epons look massive behind the ball, tends to distract me, if I'm been honest!!

302 time me thinks.... Lol

I have been playing the 1957 blades for 3 months now, surprisingly I found this set easier to hit than any irons I have ever used - I played both cavity backs and blades irons.

I guess the perception of most people that blades are meant only for low handicappers is not true. I think anyone can use this as long as you have the swing that suits for a blade, I bought a Mizuno MP33 when I was 20 hcap, in fact i found this easier to hit than those irons with wider soles that's why i pick it up.

If you are mid handicapper, don't be afraid to try a blade especially the 1957 LE, who knows you may be surprise & enjoy it better than those game improvement irons.
