I'm having some issues with the WV125 that I shafted in my new SDJ wedges... Although it feels solid on full shots, I find it hard to dial in the distances on pitch shots. Didn't have this issue with the SP blues that I soft-stepped. Maybe the transition from 1150s in my irons to 130g in WV 125 is too much..

Does anyone have any experience with these Shimada wedge shafts?

yeah plenty of experience. i find that these are one of the best shafts in wedges i have tried.
they are super super stable, straight and are lower launching. they put lots of spin more so
than the WV wedge shafts which i found great for pitch shots but terrible on full shots.

i had the black shafts( same as the chrome) if you do a lot of full shots with your wedges
id recommend these. for the pitch shots around the green i had no problem with them.
do note they are a bit stiff , i was only gaming an S and they felt stiffer than an S.

i have in my yamaha wedges right now
set of wv125 s
shaimada wedge s
ns1150 tour x

exactly the same heads same lofts.
ive been alternating them week in / out

the wv i find heavy, low and quite whippy , i find i can get these to spin a lot with full shots and on close chips i find them good to hit without much spin, and with roll
the shimada i find nothing what so ever, they just feel like nothing, the get ok spin are a decent weight , mid trajectory. all in all they are just plain out and out good. theres nothing discernable abt them
the 1150 x tour are HIGH, stiff as planks and light.
i love these. not sure if they produce the msot spin, but i like playing the extra X and height for dropping dead on a spot. on chips the get a bit airy bec they are light

ive been favouring these recently bec iwant the ball to drop from a height.
but if iahd to play just one set i think id go the shimadas

I recently put a set of Shimada 120s in play in my Mizuno wedges MP-T11, 52*. 56*, and 60*. Of all the wedge shafts I have tried, these shafts feel the most stable and predictable to me. I have played Rifle Spinners, NSPro 950 WVs, NSPro 950 (S), KBS HiRevs, and DG Spinners in these 3 heads.

The Shimadas, by FAR, provide the most feedback and feel. For me they are confidence inspiring, and give a ton of feedback. I practice a lot of partial swing shots with all my wedges, especially chips and short range pitches. The Shimadas provide so much feedback on touch shots that I feel like I can go pin hunting, or get out of the sand, or run up a chip shot, any time I want.

If I had to pick one shaft to put in any wedge, I would pick the Shimadas. The NSPro 950 would be a distant second place.

Hope that helps,

Kevin

had a good session with all my wedges on sat

the ns 1150 are very high and def light much much lighter and lower spin , the ball seems to go airborn amnd jump off the face without getting too much spin,
totally differnt feeling tothe WV which seem to suck the ball on the club face longer and sling its off with lots of spin. totally differnt stlye of shot.
the shaimadas were lower felt more thumping, got plenty of spin.

last night i went thru all my wedges trying to work out which ones i was going to change to the NSproto wedge shafts ive had stashed without heads.
i couldnt make my mind up.
but DEF the shimadas were not getting changed,
that must say something.

Shimada 120 black shafts arrived so my impressions after 18 holes today:

Looks: Very stealthy looking when paired with the black SDJ head.
I was blown away by how responsive the shafts were to a variety of shots. Felt firm but offered feel as well.
Such a contrast to the WV125 which I can describe as a bit lethargic compared to the Shimadas...
Two thumbs up!!

Can't wait to get my new wedges in play. I got the RC protos with the Shimada 120 HW black but unfortunately have to wait until spring arrives here! Liking what I can read here about the shafts though :-)
