well.....,
very good sesshy today.
had the 2011 tour 10* --diamana stinger and the 2012 with bb 7s.
was hitting the middle all day.
i def prefer the tour models in 10* to 9* bec of my swing. im not a high soaring bomber so the extra loft gives me a better look and a better flight.
the 2011 is fuller, has a smaller, deeper face , and is lower flight. and i think gets the ball out there just a bit further.

the 2012 is more elongated, more rectangle faced. and sleeker
the miss hits DEF fly better with the 2012, but i dont think it as long or penetrating as the 2011.
its a damn sight easier to hit thast for certian.

the feel of the heads aint that far away all the tour heads feel pretty similar over the yrs.
crisp with an ever so slight muted sound.
the new model i found a bit easier to get thru on, and def easier to turn over.
most assuradly easier to got left.

i hit draws and hooks most of the session. which immediatly alerted me to the shaft.

the new blue white bb 7s ,great looking shaft.
has the distinguishable GD feel to it, its soft and ever so muted. its a damn good pairing with this head. for me tho id def get the x flex, as its a soft shaft.
the diamana is leagues better, but the price differnential demands it shud be so.
the shaft doesnt not feel anything like a DI, its much more flexible . less stiff more whippy.
the flight was mid and the trajectory was similar, no fighter jet f16 take off like the old ev range . its a pretty consistant arc which i imagine will get plenty of roll. i liked the flight a lot, its lower than the stinger but not as tight, and def not as nice in yr hands. (but not much if anything ive ever hit is.)

played at 45 inch @ d2

i liked this a lot and im taking it tomorrow with full intention of gaming it.
its a much easier to hit tour driver than its predeccesors, the feel is almost identical form 09 till now. which is fabulous, as u know what ur getting every time.

im just not sold on this stiff flex shaft tho , i think the gd range in stiff comes in on the soft side .
id love to hit this with an x as i think itll take those few turnovers out of play. but overall ithink this shaft is a beauty i like it a load more than the di and (dj which i hate ) and its a much better option than the diamana ahina as a stock shaft.
as far as yamaha tour drivers go this i feel wil be there best .
only one session but i def preferd it today to the 2011, although i think the 2011 is longer, the extra safety net of a slightly wider head just makes this head more appealing to a wider audience and gives just a wee bit more control.
very very happy with this driver. shud appeal to a broad audience.
2 thumbs up for this.
the combo is good!

swapped the shaft around in this palyed it today ,i reaplced it with a crazy black 50 8.2
at 45.25 d.5 323 gram.

lower flight than 10* normally gets.good carry with good roll. found a great combo with what i like to see in flight.
the ball is not high , but nor is it ankle bitiing. was windy as hell today , and had no trouble with it what so ever.
choked down just a bit and got some prettty impressive shots going on, could not turn it over to hook it. but also there was a very pleasant lack of slice. distance was up there with most others without anything really standing out.
just a super solid driver especially into the wind.
first round with it on a course thats very tricky and super thin fairways. dog legs both ways ,elevated tees the whole shebang.
found i was very confident with this driver in hand.miss hits went very good distance and ever so slight block right
without a discernable lack of disatnce loss.
wont say its as good or better than the ryoma but i didint notice a whole lot of loss.

feel is very tingy and instant repsonse to my hands on where i hit the ball.
sweet spot seems to be closer to the hosel than the ryoma and the increase distance gained on this shot was noticeable.
getting it on the sweetpsot was much easier than the 2011 model, although i still think the 2011 is longer over all.

good driver should enjoy this driver a lot , and the change of shaft resulted in much better driver for me.
very very impressed with the 2012. i def think its better than the older ones.

got a spot . one of my best.

mine finally arrived yesterday and quickly shafted it with the Quadra FEX proto 75.
my thoughts after today's round.

-nice compact head, easy to set up square
-impact feels so soft!!!!
-don't know if it's the head or the Quadra or both but whole set up seems so effortless
-Quadra feels lively and so smooth

two thumbs up!!

Excellent choice for both. The Proto is top notch and I really enjoy mine. What flex did you go with?

I went with stiff and it feels different from other shafts in that it feels very "lively"
