Im currently on KBS Tours and whilst the feel is great, this is very high ball flight. Lost some distance from Project X 5.5 and Rifle S-90 on TM Burner tour 99 on the shorter irons but great on longer irons. I was getting pretty set on SP Blue then i come across a thread on this C Taper.
-5% lower trajectory
-5% less spin
-Up to 10 yards more distance (5% more distance)

Anyone used this?

They based those figures on what? Ayway it's a case to case basis, some love it some
Hate it. Ive tried all the shafts numerous times and in the end can't beat the nspro feel.
Haven't tried the c tapers but I'm done with usdm shafts. Try to get a 7i shaft and play around with
It.
If you like it go ahead. Good luck eric

I think I will do that, grab a single shaft if they do it and test. The turn off is the cost of shipping a single shaft which is more than the shaft lol.

I did have a taste of nippon 1150GH but bought it second hand on a TM MB and swingweight was in C9 vicinity and i didnt worry about lead taping the muscle back so it didnt last.

Thanks Carlo.

I am currently using the C Tapers S+ in a new set of heads. I previously, and still have, the Yonex Cyberstar Forged irons that have the original PX Satin 6.0 in them. I love those irons and am keeping the set around. I had a new set of the Cyberstar heads that I've been sitting on and fitted the KBS on them last week so I can make a side by side comparison. Ball flight on the shorter irons is definitely lower than the orig PX. Mid irons about the same but the long irons are lower and flatter but for some reason the ball gets up easier with the C Tapers although not flying as high. Distance is really about the same so 5% longer is going to be a stretch for most I think. I find the feel quite good and I cannot decide if the short irons are less responsive in the tip than the PX or not. For sure it's a different feel but I need to spend a bit of time out on the course with both shafts hitting the same shots. The only thing I can say that is in any way negative is the shaft looks thicker than the PX at address. The finish on the KBS makes it look thicker than it actually is but when I first used the Satins I thought they looked odd too but got used to them over a short time. I'm sure the KBS will look good pretty quick. In the end the C Taper is a very good shaft compared to the original satin. Way better than the current PX and I think best suited to a ground loader as opposed to a picker of the ball. If you're a picker there are better options out there.

I've got them, great feel, lower flight and a bit longer. Look good as well, I'm almost ready to say best shafts I've tried.

Hey P
Thanks for that. Could you please tell me
  • What shaft your coming from
  • Flex & flex with KBS c taper
  • Your ss & 150y club

I'm coming from KBS tours stiff & for what I want to achieve I was told either soft stepped s or hardstepped R+

i suggest R+ instead of a softstep S.
youl have tighter shots vs the softstep S.

You know what C, I will take that advice after hitting a 5iron to a 195y par 3 so high & so much spin on a down sloping green & it bounced & stopped 5feet from pitchmark similar to punched gap wedge from 50yards. Good result in this case but not in normal cases..

I have some JPX pros with Nippon 8950 stiff now. I had the C tapers in some TM Miura forged heads but wanted something more forgiving. I have a set of J38 PCs heads on the way and will install the C tapers in them. My C tapers are Stiff soft stepped once, I had KBS tours X soft stepped twice before in a set of Miura 301s, MX300s, Epon 502s, then MP53s.
150 club is a soft 8
C taper stiff soft stepped once feels like a stiff in most all other sets to me.
