So I was able to test out a set of this years burners. I wanted to ask if anyone else out there playing this club?

I did not know about the tech features and designs put into this new set; but after doing research and reading about it online... I found the set to be fairly interesting.

I couldn't help it but noticed on the spec page of the material of the face, all 3 types of irons are different grades of steel. Though I could not tell the difference, except the ball rockets of the face on all irons... Save the scoring irons, they feel pretty normal with sky high flights similar to NS950 shafts.

I noticed that they are about the same lofts as the Epon AF701 irons, but indeed I have a solid 20 yards over the 701s, and 30-40 yards over my AFTours from the 7 iron and down. Downright just sick yardages. My yardages for 7 iron are normally around 170-175, but w/the burners i get a amazing 190+ sometimes the ball rolls to 200.

Distance is outstanding but I found the stock shafts to be way toooo boardy, light and very inconstant. Length of the shafts are also longer and increase the difficulty to make contact w/long irons.

Forgivness is a 9.5-10 very very forgiving, i think the only club I've played, which has more forgiveness and length than these are the cleveland hi bore xli irons and the adams OS hybrid set. I hit the heel and toe the ball works back to the middle nicely. Very forgiving and straight.

Progressive offset is quite nice also, 8-Lob wedge all look very nice w/minimal offset. While the longer irons have offset for the forgiveness, its a well thought out design IMO, as I don't like the OFFset on the scoring irons of the AF701s. These burners sit quite comfortably at addy.

Lately I've been playing forgiving long irons, and blade scoring irons, but I think these burners will be played for acouple more rounds in my bag.

Anyone elses opinions on this club?

I was lucky enough to get a test set in February and have been loving them ever since. As a long time member of this board I have tried lots of JDM irons and US CB forgings. I love the feel of a well struck shot with a good forged club. Alas, I can play better with these 09 Burners. Same guy, same swing, better scores. I never thought I could play clubs with this much offset and such large heads. WRONG I can hit a 3 iron again. Long high 220+ 3 irons. Hybrids? who needs a hybrid, these long irons are so easy to hit its a joke. Now I confess the short irons can be a little too hot. I gave up on the PW and the 9 goes too far on occasion. You owe yourself to at least try these clubs, I have personally converted at least 8 guys in the last 3 months. Makes golf fun!!!
If they ever come out with a TP version so I could replace the short irons ....

A little late to the dance, as I have only been playing a tour issued set (4-PW) with KB shafts off and on for about 5 weeks. The first time I played them I thought these feel like the best cast clubs I have ever hit. Plus they are high and long. Only trouble I had was pulling all shots left. Being the Ho that I am, instead of checking into the problem, I moved on to 09 OnOFF Plus irons and a set of MP-58s. Both really great irons, but not the forgiveness of the
Burners. As a side note, I actually like the feel of the Burners over the MP-58s.

About two weeks ago, after not so great day of striking the ball, I decided to go back to the Burners. Found out they were about 3.5 degrees to upright for me. No one really wanted to touch bending them that much, so since I have a loft lie machine, decided to do it my self. Didn't break any, but did put some some nice marks into the chrome. Since I don't plan on selling this set and can't see marks from address, I am not upset about it.

Bottom line is after adjusting the lie, I am hitting the ball extremely solid. Best set I have found so far that combines forgiveness (most important to me), workability (need some especially in the shorter irons) and feel (not a forged blade feel like MP-68, but pretty good and no click sound/fee/ which I really dislike).

Was going to buy a set of 09 burners but now am about to buy the 09 Burner Forged set. Slightly less offset, slightly thinner top line and about 2* (on avg) weaker (closer to standard) lofts. I hope I get the same experience for the most part as you guys did! Looking very forward!
Anyone try the Burner Forged irons yet?? Chime in please!
