Even if it got me out there 350 every time; I don't think I could ever get past the look of it to swing it. I know a lot of technology went into it, but I'm surprised a square shape like that would be able generate swing speed. I'll stick with the import stuff.

My belief is that Nike should be able to produce a driver that is cosmetically very good. For whatever reason this is simply not the case.

My favourite shape is the Tourstage VIQ 2. This looks like a classic old McGregor persimmon at address.

Phil Nike is a very smart marketer. People have bought the Nike simply because Tiger has one in his bag most of the time. No different to Michael Jordans shoes really.

....besides the fact that Tigers driver would be nothing like retail.

Nothing against the technology or the sales they have made. I just like golf clubs that look like golf clubs.

Jees guys i really dont mind the look of it. - of course it is very modern - ie untraditional! but i find that ugly clubs usually are great performers. I certainly wil be open minded and give it a go. and if i was hitting 350 yd drives i CERTAINLY WOULD use it!

I am more fascinated by it now that we actually have clear pics.......it really is a beast lol :tsg_smilie_smile: :tsg_smilie_cool:

The SUMO shouldn't be any harder on the eyes than the current MAX version, the SUMO 2 will take some getting used to. But I embrace technology, anything to make this game easier off the tee is welcome. I applaud Nike for the innovation and having the guts to stray from the norm in the interest of building a better club. I will certainly try it, and if it works, great, I'll be more than happy to bag it. Hopefully I'll be standing in the fairway waiting to hit my next shot while all the "traditionalists" are searching the tree's and rough for their tee ball.

That has to be one of the ugliest things I have seen. I was considering the SQ Tour but I may just wait to hit this beast first. That is if I can get over the look YIKES!. I hope they come out more normal Tour version but then again how do you make square club look normal?? :tsg_smilie_confused:

A matter of taste, I'm sure, but to my eyes those are very unattractive. However, if they put me in the fairway 10 times out of 10 I would learn to live with them. No problem at all.

FT-5 and Nike Sumo is just new tech gimmick to get guys to buy the product and try somthing new.

They increase the MOI which will keep the head more stable which is somthing many brands have been doing for a long while.

They lower the CG which will give you a higher launch angle.

same stuff being done to the clubs in different ways. Sweet spot size is maxed and so is distance.

Anyone seen address pics of the Regular Sumo?

These are of the Sumo Squared but, from what i have seen, the SQ Sumo looks to be a "regular" SQ shape with a slightly extended "powerbow" section. Might be a little easier to the eye to begin with.
