Wonderful, simply wonderful BUT.......
First of all, I have tried them all..Futura, 2-balls, center shafted, heel shafted, etc! This is the most effective and easy to use putter I have ever used. It took me one day to get used to it after using a center shafted Odyssey most recently (a 2-ball blade before that). It is easy to aim, is incredibly forgiving and the distance control superb. IMO there is one huge drawback to this putter, the Type A grip. After using the Odyssey white hot putter grip, standard Ping and Ping blue Winn most recently, the GD Type A is too big/fat for me. It really affected my overall impression of the putter. I almost gave up on it altogether. But I had the grip professionally removed and put a full cord Lamkin crossline (a pretty narrow/thin grip) and whamo...this thing is absolute money. I have tried to get a GD ion grip from Chris but I really don't want to experiment further...the putter is now that good. I recommend it to absolutely anyone, anywhere! |

So I just received my Eldik today and I have to say I'm dissapointed. I only putted on the practice green which was slightly long after morning rain maybe it's me. I currently own a Futura (rolled putts well with it but could never get comfortable with the look), a Tri Hot #3 (This is currently my main putter ever since I had it Balance Certified which was after I ordered the Eldik).
The Eldik; Cons: 1) grip is too small (it came with the pink Ion grip which I will have to replace, I have large hands) 2) is very soft (almost too soft), I can barely feel it hit the ball on a smooth stroke. 3) shaft bend (I'm use to having my hands either in line or in front of the ball), the bend puts my hands behind the ball. Pros: 1) Face balanced (I thought it wasn't) 2) balls did stay on line (though short) This may sound like I don't like the Eldik but I do! I need to have a new grip installed and have it Balance Certified (50 gram wgt.) which will be done this week. I will update this review after the modifications. |

Seems the drawback in either case are the grips offered by Gauge. We should swap! LOL. The stock blue grip was too big as I have relatively small hands. I'm anxious to see how you like the putter after you put a grip on that you like.

I put half a strip of lead tape across the bottom silver weight as far back as possible. The stroke is much improved for me as is the forgiveness. I feel as though I can swing it all over the place going back and it will come through perfectly square and dead straight. I got the idea from Chris' pics showing lead tape all over the bottom. I really liked the overall weight of mine so I put a tad here and there until it was just right. The more toward the rear, the better for me.
Hey Andre..have the grip professionally removed and we'll exchange??!! Aloha! |
