OK guys I'm going to give you as much info about my swing as I can and I'm hoping that a few of you will chime in with some suggestions as to how I should fine-tune this set-up. . .

SS 100-105 mph
Natural Shot Shape - Fade
Misses - Blocks, I have trouble releasing the club through the ball at times and don't want a shaft that is going to fight me through the ball.
Swing Type - I don't know if I can call myself a "swinger" or a "hitter", I'm just a "7 handi hack" looking for a forgiving driver that I can turn over  !!

I have had some success with the 660tr "s" in a few heads. I like the feel of the 660, but I was never able to turn it over at 260 cpms. I'm having a good amount of success with the Launcher 460/stock gold "fuji" which bounces at 256 cpms, but I'd like to get back to a 400cc head as the larger head is sometimes a bit tough to "square up" at impact.

I'm curious to hear from anyone and everyone who has an opinion on either the Gemini 395cc, the 26.3, and or anything pertaining to my post that could be helpful in fine-tuning my next purchase.

Thanks,
Ted

hey ted u sound like my dad, lol...he was put on the launch monitor and his swing came out consistently at 103. he to fights a fade/slice. when he took the demo gemini out with the fujikura vista pro 60 R flex he didnt miss a fairway. i was watching him kill this driver straight every time. i know it is an r flex but it honestly it seems to work wonders for him
hope this helps

Thanks for the info, I would have thought a VP regular would be way too soft, but hey, maybe not. I don't care what the shaft is or says, I just want it to work.

I have a fuji tour realse 26.3 in a SMT Babylon that I love. I can feel the kick through the hitting zone. The 26.3 would be a great fit in that head.

I did get a prototype NVS whichc is supposed to be the same kind of shaft, high launch launch, low spin. I am going to give a try this weekend and see how it is.

. . .that "kick through the hitting zone" is exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks,

What's in the Bag?:
*nakashima nx-1 w / PX 5.5
*pro pulsion 440 10.5 w/ accuflex creation, (1 of many)
* nakashima nx-1 3wd w/ code 8
*ss-03 5wd w/ irod tour 85

have a 395cc gemini 10.5* with a fuji tour release 27.3 stiff flex - tipped half inch. i'm 105-110 and although this combo is a tad soft.. at 45'' it is 250cpm's.. i can hit some really nice drives. actually when i slowed it down to 100-105 i hit it very well. the gemini is a very forgiving driver - maybe due to the dual face theory and also very good length. the new tour release shaft is perfect for smooth swingers-- it does'nt make the ball flight too high it just lets the loft of the club head play true. if oyu went with the tour release geta stiff flex and with a 200gram weight head tip it half inch to play out 250cpm.. ken

Thanks Ken!
My club builder was recomending no stiffer than 255ish.
If you're telling me that 250 should work pretty well at 100-105mphs, it sounds like I'm in the right ballpark.

I think my club builder is getting a shipment today, so I plan on having one last conversation with him before he puts driver together for me.

The more I hear about the tour release the more I think its gonna work out well for me . . .

Thanks again for the detailed response!!

I'm actually going to end up with two Gemini drivers.
1 with a 26.3 and the other with a ys7.

I couldn't make up my mind so I did what any good club ho would do, I got both.

I've tried a bunch of $250 shafts and haven't really found any that were really blowing my mind. The 26.3 sounds like it could fit my game and swing pretty well and the first upgrade shaft I ever bought was a ys7 and I wouldn't mind going back to an "oldie but goodie" . . .

I'll hit them both and hopefully one will just stand out.

Interesting that you should ask . . .
Here is a funny story, forgive me if its a little long:

I ordered the 2 drivers from 2 different people.
I live in Manhatten, but work in Philly.
I have a place in Philly that I stay in a few days a week then I come back home to NYC for the rest of the week.

The driver with the 26.3 was delivered to NYC while I was in Philly. My buddy was at my place in NYC when the driver was delivered and he called to tell me it arrived. He asked if he could hit it and I said sure . . .I never asked him if it was the right driver, asking that question never occured to me.

Anyway, he hits the club at the range and said he liked it . . .ok fine, no big thing. Well, when I got to my appartment in NYC I realized I had a problem, I had the wrong driver, and it wasn't new anymore so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to return it. The guy sent me a 9*, 355cc head.

So I'm sitting around pretty bummed out and I call the guy who built the club for me. They guy is really cool and tells me to return it. He said it was his fault that the wrong club was delivered and he'd take it back without any problem. So I'm thinking ok cool, no harm no foul. But I start looking at the club and it really looks nice. The headshape is gorgeous and it looks plenty big.

So I decide maybe this isn't so bad . . .maybe I'll keep this one and get the 395cc head from the other guy and see which one I like better. So I call this guy back again and tell him not to build me the 395cc driver and I tell him I'll just keep this one. He was cool enough to tell me that I could take it to the range and if I didn't like it I could still return it -I thought that was really cool. So I go to the range . . .

The driver is GREAT. First of all the 26.3 is friggin awsome. Smooth as hell and really stable through the ball. I don't think I was hitting the ball as far as I have with other setups but HOLY COW - I was hitting the ball so straight it was almost funny. Drive after drive was a tight 5-10 yard trusty fade. I could move it right to left if I tried too.

The 355ccs seem like plenty. The driver is so forgiving its like playing my 460 without that huge kinda clumsy looking clubhead.

I'm hoping that I can change my other order so the 395cc head can have a 26.3 in it too . . .the shaft is BY FAR THE BEST I'VE PLAYED. I don't like or need a very demanding shaft. I have the stiff flex in there, its tipped just enough to cpm at 255 and its a dream.

I can't wait to get this driver out on my home course so I can get a really good feel for distance and "real life playability". I know all about honeymoon periods and all that stuff but I really do think that this driver has a very good chance of being in my bag for a long time.

I'm having trouble beleiving that the 395cc head can be better than this, but I'm anxious to see . . .

From what I have read the 395cc is much preffered to the 355? I'l be curious what you think when you have them both.

Me too...I hit the 355 at the clubfitters the other day with the 27.3 and even tho it was into a net only the ballflight on the computer was just a nice little 6-10yd draw...really a sweet swinging combination...he's got the 395's coming Tuesday so I am busying myself drooling into a towel and trying not to wish my life away..if the 395 is better i may need serious medication..this whole club thing could become a serious problem....
