starting last fall i went on a quest for a new driver. after trying all comers the cobra 440sz stood alone. 'till today.

i just got my gemini proto this morning and went straight to the range. warmed up with the irons and pulled the cobra to get some baseline shots in before i tried the gemini. there is a green at my range at 250yds and a berm at 275yds and it is slightly uphill. with my cobra i can drop balls in between the two all day long, but i cant get over the berm. to it but not over it.

so, after i felt i could do no more with the cobra, i unsheathed the gemini. all i can say is -holys**t. the gemini has a more muted sound (similiar to a titleist) and the ball comes off flying long and straight. i wasnt looking for more distance, i got the gemini for control. 1st ball 1 hopped the 275 berm. 2nd, 3rd, and so on. BONUS!!! the gemini is not only straighter than the cobra, but it was longer to boot. the trajectory is lower and it hits the ground running with more steam than the cobra. this could be due to a number of factors, but the bottom line is- it does.

so while my cobra is no slouch it has been demoted to backup duties as the gemini is now the top dog in the bag. a small crowed had gathered to checkout what i was hitting (more than likely do to the sound of the cobra!! ) and i turned down all offers to purchase the gemini.

i did let a few people try it. i spotted a dad and son who were both totally hacking the ball. i had them come over and try the gemini and both of them immediately started hitting the ball much straighter. while explaining to them what makes a ball go left or right i found it was easy to work the gemini either way.

i love this thing and its in the bag to stay.

gemini is for real.

we still have some snow here, itll be in the 40s for the next 3 days then get crappy again.

as for it being a prototype, the way i understood it- it is the final phase proto that is virtually the same as the retail model. it just says "prototype" where the retails will have a serial#. there are some out there already, and should be widely available in a couple of weeks.

What sort of shaft do you have in the Gemini and what is your swingspeed, tempo, etc.? I tried one with an Accuflex VS339 (correct?) and liked it but felt the shaft and head combo was much too light. I wonder how it would work with an 85 gram Aldila NV or something like it?

its a blue s flex, my tempo is smooth, 105-110mph. it is pretty light but slightly heavier than my cobra/GD YS 5 combo.

I tried the 350cc version today (Johnny's old one) with a Harmon GXX shaft. I found performance very, very similar to a Taylor 580XD with the same shaft.

I've come to the conclusion that driver performance is maxed at this point. The only improvements yet to come are in forgiveness.

I have a 395 on the way.

Hey jeld - I went to KZG site and did a search for retailers. Called one of 'em up and he has two heads ready for assembly. Clubhead is widely available now. Got one on order, $320 or so w/ NV shaft. Looking forward to it.

Help! I need the expert opinion of one of you club gurus out there. I won a Gemini 395 proto on ebay. Sent my money order promptly. The guy emails and says he had an "accident" in the shop and my club was slightly damaged. Said he'd be getting additional heads from KZG late Feb / early March. :x
Question: He says new heads will NOT have "Prototype" stamped on them. Do any of you know or believe this will make a difference? Will the "new" head be any different from the proto?
In fairness, he has offered me a full refund.
What do you think?
Thanks, in advance, for any input!!
