I am thinking of getting a staff bag in the next month or so and I was thinking of getting either my name or initials sewn into. I just wanted to get the boards opinion on the matter. When you see someone with his name in his bag to you think he is a poser?

My full name in all caps is on my Hoofer. My wife got the bag for me as a b-day present. I like the name on my bag. I do not think someone is a poser if they have their name on their bag. I always let their game speak for itself.

pete , I my ideal bag would be a staff/tour bag with nothing on it at all .
Blank , am not getting paid to play the clubs so why would I advertise them . If I could get a TourStage, TM ,Titleist type staff/Tour bag with nothing on it like I said, I would get it in a heart beat . |

Putting your name or initials on your bag is like putting your initials on your clubs. It's cool, so long as you can back it up with some game.

I personally wouldn't want it but I have no problem with people who are into it. Usually, if I see someone with their name on their bag I expect them to have a little game.

To me, if you can't shoot in the 60's as a matter of fact, hold the initials and name on the bag. As a .5 h/c I enjoy hustling the guy with the name on his bag. More times than not, they are easy pickin's. This is the same guy twirlls his club after every shot as well and shoots 82!
For a pro, I think it's fine, State Am champ, cool, but if you have a handicap greater than "0" I don't think it is appropriate. just one man's opinion! By the way, is your name on it in case you forget? What is the real point? EGO? :? :? |

Well I have had my initials on my bag since day one... my parents got me the bag as a gift and thats how it was presented to me. I thought people might have this opinion, thats why I made it an option. I have been thinking of this topic since I posted, and now I am sure I am going to get my name put on my bag. I don't want my name on my bag b/c I want people to think I am a pro, not because I got a huge ego to feed. I want it on my bag b/c it makes it special. It makes me mine. It says hey this guy didn't just go pick this off the shelf... I just want something thats different than everyone elses... Its like monogramed bath towels or dress shirts. Its just a special touch. |

Hey, if you like it nothing should stop you from putting your name on it.
Bottomline is it doesn't matter if somebody else thinks it's pretentious or not. It's your bag. Doesn't matter if you shoot 65 or 95, you are the one who got to carry it. haribo |

My plan was to do something personal - IMO name for an am. is too much - I was going to do the Lithuanian State Emblem - or a small Lithaunian flag criss crossed with the American Flag.

actually my dream bag as I refered to in a different post is a Japan issue white titleist with my name, an American Flag bellow that, and then bellow that the kanja symbol for hope... my ultimate team is called lost hope and my girlfriend has it tatooed on her back... I was inspired by Nick P.'s circle t bag (saw it in his sig while I was checking out the other place during the little war of words the other day... that thing is hot!!!) |

I am amazed at the general attitude in the golf world of what you can and cannot do, depending on what kind of game you have. I think it's totally ridiculous to not be able to wear this or have your name on something or use iron covers or many of the idiotic things that people debate over because of our perceptions. I personally think that the people who judge others because of that stuff are just ego trippers. Golf is full of guys like that and we forget that it's just a stupid game that we play for fun. Get over it everyone!

Exactly - big scotty fan getting something personal I wonder what the cost was- just like my feelings about a tatoo - must be personal - not just some more barb wire around the bicep. |
