What are the differnces between Type X and Type S In terms of feel and playability. I know the head on the S is smaller but is that really it. It seems Type X and J are the two most talked about on the forum. If I were considering type S should I just get X . I am a 10-12 Handi capper and hoping to improve slowly. Does anyone know if the cavity back on either or both models were the slit area is becomes solid on the say 7 -pw irons for better feel.

If you are a 10-12 handicapper, you would be happier with a Type S as it has thinner top line and less of a clicky sound. X is basically for higher handicappers and of course you would to play with it but I suspect you would enjoy the S more for workability.

Would it be even better for 10-12 handicapper to use type J?

i have a group of friends with 1-3 average handicaps that tried the type j and although they hit it pretty well dont like the fact that it is not so forgiving. they loved the type s so much more. its all about forgiveness and what you can get away with.

My XXIO Forged is very forgiving, but doesn't feel very soft. I'm going to give Type S a try. Thanks!

If you are 10-12 H'cap and on the way down ,I'm sure you will be better off with type - J's they are easy to use and you will also be able learn to move the ball both ways and not have to change when you hit your goal of single figures.

While your at it treat yourself to the Epon X wedges in satin chrome.

Just wait and feel the difference.

Happy Golfing
