anyway i just picked up an old school eldik becasue i loved the look of the putter. defintely one of the better neo mallet putters out there. so i finally have the putter and it is indeed a looker, only complaints are that this one looks cheaply painted and there is some minor painting defects at the counterweight and sides of the putter. this one looks like it was hastily painted. overall feel is hefty although i find the headweight a bit light.
putting stroke is very comfy although i still get some head twisting on the the backstoke. same problem as what i had with the leap. also added an inch of shaft extender to make the overall length 35" from a 34" and effectively bumped up swingweight from d2-d9. on the putting green i had to get used to the lighter weight, although i noticed that most of my shots came up short compared to the leap. also noticed that this putter would benefit someone with a crisper stroke. feel wise it is defintely crisper as there are no inserts in the face. putts went exactly as i aimed them without much skipping, in the practice greens at least. overall i am quite happy with it and will test it in the actual course later for some 9 hole action. im less confident though using it becasuse it significantly feels lighter than my stock leap. i tried removing the counterweight balance with an allen wrench but screws would not budge. wondering if this is removable or just part of the design. will leave this one stock and will make necessary mods depending on how the putter behaves in the course. top of my head i would have loved adding say an additional 40 grams on the butt area and 20 grams on the blade. the eldik sp would have been perfect. will have pics and more feedback later. |

so i finally have one round with this putter and all i can say is despite my discomfort with the head twisting and inadequate weight i found this putter to be superb. i actually putt better today than my previous days with the leap. what is also surprising is that i had only 1 three put through 9 holes. something ive never done with any other putter.
also noticed that this putter benefits those with a crisp stroke vs one with a tap style putt. since it had no inserts i left most holes longer than short(leap) but the distance from the long miss was relatively closer than the short miss which makes converting the 2nd putts more likely with the eldik. the alighning aids were also easier to aim and alingn with the hole and adjusting was easier becasue of the 3 sitelines as opposed to the dual line and ball of the leap. im thinking of giving this putter a couple of more rounds before modding it with lead tape. i find this putter very very good. im not sure if they had one with additional weights (eldik sp) + milled face. that would trully rock. |

have changed the stock iomic grip to a ping interlocking squared grip. feels much better with my bigger hands. the iomics were good but a tad to small.

this putter just gets better and better and unfortunately for me has been taken away from my hands. becasue of the way i have been putting my fiance has sequestered my beloved eldik and has claimed it as hew own. no problem giving it to her being that she has been putting at her worst with my gfield premium zone #1
after trying the eldik her miss rate was reduced by 50% she is now 3 putting most of the time. believe me 3 putting for her is a big improvement over her previous non -eldik games:) she also claimed that i was mean for not giving her the eldik instead of the premium zone hehe. its like night and day. now my next task is to look for another eldik, hoping to track down an sp real soon. |

What is the diff between the Ace and sp? If you are looking at an Ace, I think I can help. the eldik sp is a limited edition prototype with 4 tungsten inserts, teflon coated and plumbers style neck while the eldik ace is a hollow eldik . the eldik ace is pretty common on ebay etc. according to others it has a very very lifeless feel to it:) thanks for the offer man. here some pics of eldik sp (IMG:http://city.udn.com/community/img/city/570/forum/f_1372369.jpg) (IMG:http://city.udn.com/community/img/city/570/forum/f_1372311.jpg) here is a pic of the eldik ace showing the hollow part of the counterweight (IMG:http://city.udn.com/community/img/city/570/forum/f_1277120.jpg) This post has been edited by Spoon: Aug 27 2007, 12:58 AM |
