It looks like Maruman has made a comeback with their latest Conductor Power Forged line of irons. I just acquired one, and everything is astounding. First, all the swingweights were exact. Second, the overall weights were off 1.5 grams maximum compared to published spec (those are really tight tolerances!). Third, the feel is really really soft because they are Endo forged! Fourth, they have successfully implemented an undercut channel in the 3 to 6 irons without making the irons look clunky. Fifth, even with their slightly larger faces and wider soles they effectively play narrower thanks to their innovative sole grind that helps both fat and thin shots. So here are pics of my babies:
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/jick0/Set-Closeup.jpg) (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/jick0/Set-Irons-Wedges.jpg) (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/jick0/Maruman-Grind.jpg) Their new drivers are also top rate. Here are pics of their new Exim Nano Deep Impact driver. Its crown is made of super light titanium, its profile is quite traditional, and the look is sleek. (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/jick0/photobucker-Driver-Exim-Nano-sole.jpg) (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/jick0/photobucker-Driver-Exim-Nano-crown.jpg) (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/jick0/photobucker-Driver-Exim-Nano-face.jpg) I think Maruman is gonna make some noise in the Japan market this year... Its a nice looking club, part of the USA line up and not sold in Japan. I hope Maruman can make a comeback in Japan, they have been struggling for quite some time. They pretty much killed themselves in the USA offering the product at outrageous prices to just about anyone that will sell them.
This is their 3rd time releasing the brand in the USA. Hopefully third time is a charm. I have hit these irons recently they are on par with the X-Blade GR IMO. |

From what I know, these Marumans are Japan releases. The irons are found in the Maruman Japan site: http://www.maruman.co.jp/english/golf/cond...ctor/index.html While the Exim Nano Deep Impact driver is also there. From the accounts I have heard, it won't even be released in Southeast Asia or the rest of the world but only in the Japan market - as the other markets will concentrate on the Extra Impact Model. Here it is from the Maruman Japan site: http://www.maruman.co.jp/english/golf/exim...m_di/index.html My irons came with NSPro 950 shafts and a sticker of the price in yen (a cool Y151,200.00). Even the US websites that sell Maruman stuff - from Golfsmith.com to ClickandSaveGolf.com don't carry the Conductor Power Forged, or the Exim Nano Deep Impact driver. I hope this thread can be returned to the Japanese Import Equipment section. And by the way, a week ago, I played with 2006 Asian Tour Rookie Of The Year - Juvic Pagunsan - and he used this same set. It was indeed a thrill to play with him. Maybe next year he might try to qualify for the Japan Tour. |

I have hit the Maruman Exim Driver that came out last year...and that has one of the hottest faces out in the market. It's just bombs away with that driver.
I passed up the opportunity to demo a set of the Conductor Power Forged. I've been having fun with my good 'ol I-302's of late...but I may look into the Conductors later in the year. BTW, do you know anyone who's played the KS Premium Wedge. I've only seen these on display at a local shop. This post has been edited by golferselbow: Jul 2 2007, 11:53 PM |

maruman is pretty common where im from. one of the more famous golf manufacturers.i am using the maruman m sole shuttle 3 wood 15* and it is the best feeling wood i have ever felt or used. i kind of regret selling it to fund my epon woods. will compare them when my new gear arrives.
i am surprised that no one has mentioned the m sole shuttle in tsg. (IMG:http://www.gdoshop.com/gdoshop/assets/product_images/140513b_4.jpg) |

If it is available in other part of Asia, it is likely to be parallel or grey market import from North America. |

If its available in the U.S it should be in the domestic forum, These are not Imports so they belong here, also Japan doesn't sell the power conductor. Reason why TSG doesn't feature maruman is because no one requests the product. Yes Maruman is Japanese, so is Bridgestone, and Mizuno but you dont see me placing their U.S product in the Import section. |

I saw the irons a long time ago in a pro's bag, the one Jick played with. When Jick finally got them in I told him I'll probably buy a set soon because of the sole grind. It has been the best stock sole grind I have seen outside my Forged SS. It took awhile for him to see the benefits of the sole grind, but now he is a believer in them as well.
The Power Forged are offered in Japan. I have seen the stickers on Jick's clubs. They were in Yen. Why would they be, if they weren't being sold there? Just a clarification Chris, So if it is available both in Japan in the US it should be in the domestic forum. Regardless of shaft options? The Power Forged come with different stock shafts. I tried ordering them with anything other than NS pro here. Distributor said "no, go with DG. The DG ones are for European market". To add though the Deep Impact driver is Japan only. The Exim Extra Impact is the one being sold in the US. This post has been edited by xxio: Jul 3 2007, 09:01 PM |

Endo seems to do this quite a bit for some of their irons, JPX, Type J & S, PRGR I think it works really well in many types of turf conditions. XXIO do have any idea why its called K-Grind by Jick? is that a Tour term or Maruman term? |

K grind is an old term that I've heard as far back as the Titleist 962s. It just helps the club from digging too much on steeper swings. No idea how it does that, but it happens. The bonus on the Conductors was the anti bounce grind. Now it can handle both hard and soft conditions. Generally Japanese clubs used to have a tendency to dig. Anyone who has hit a lot of Tourstage irons from the mid 90's to up to about 3 years ago will confirm this. I was told this had to do with the general turf conditions in Japan. I haven't played there |
