What's in the Bag?:
Which One??

I'm pretty sure everyone has at least one key to their swing.

Whether it's the grip, take away, set at the top, hip turn,
sneeze when you swing... what ever!!

Mine is the shoulder turn.

When I'm turning the shoulders on the back swing, everything else just seems to follow. I have been useing this "Key" for the last couple of months. Working extremely well.

I actually have 422 keys... but that's my main one. (IMG:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/style_emoticons/TSG_Smileys/tsg_smilie_laugh.gif)

What's your Key???

I also have so many too choose from.

At the moment it is keeping my wrists/forarms square on target.

When driving I couldn't work out why the hell my balls were fading so much (and one in five was slicing). I made my mate stand behind me and make sure my hips and shoulders where square and on the take away my club head was going out side my hands. He said "yeah thats all good, but you know your arms aim way left".

A mirror and 200 balls later and my drives where straight as and I could even draw the ball off the tee again.

At the moment it is the first thing I think about when I step up on the tee.

Epon 460ZR 10.5 Roddio 6WA-SR, Fourteen J606 10 degree Mitsubishi Bassara
Callaway Big Bertha II 3, 7, 11 FW woods
Callaway X Hybrid 27 degree
Tourstage x-blade CB2 with Axiv 749M shaft or Mizuno MP 33
Bridgestone 52, 56, 60 Wedge
Heavy Putter Center shafted 33 inch, Scotty Cameron 33 inch Newport 2

positive mental imagery of my ball going toward the target. As far as mechanics, good impact position with square face angle. Currently I am working on my hip turn and wrist hinge and lagging for improvement.

I'm working on this tip from Tiger:

"To improve your ball striking (and your divots), try shallowing out your backswing--swinging a little more around you. That sets up a shallower angle into the ball and a long, thin divot. It also helps if you turn the knuckles of your top hand to the ground through impact, like I'm doing here. This is a clear sign that you're compressing the ball, trapping it between the clubface and the turf, which will result in a divot on the forward side of the ball."

Time off is my key right now (IMG:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/style_emoticons/TSG_Smileys/tsg_smilie_smile2.gif) Under normal, shank free circumstances, my cue is just to swing easy. I have a habit of over swinging. I then spin the ball too much and lose distance and proper trjectory. Other than that, keeping my posture throughout the entire swing helps my ball striking stay consistant. I like what the guy above wrote with wrist angle though, pretty sure that was causing me to Shank.

I focus on being centered over the ball and swinging within myself.

I have thoughts to fix little swing flaws as well as overall thoughts to help lower my score.

If I had to pick one it would be, "Play Smart, Lay Up, Stay in your most comfortable distance into the green.

Correct alignment and relaxed--worked with a pro and my shoulders were way too closed.

Mine is TURN AND TURN.

What it means for me is basically turning the shoulders back and then turning everything through. Its something I've worked on for many years refining over and over with my swing coach. I used to have all kinds of thoughts in my head but I've worked on being able to basically shut off everything around me and key in on "turn and turn". My old habits were a little too much sway and way over-aggressive swing.

I've now progressed to just turning and turning and have never hit better. Its been a very long road but its been well worth it. Now, with the JDM gear, golf is very, very sweet. Just wish I could play more than I do!!

Great post!

If I can narrow down to just one key it is: swing easy and swing freely. I would try to leave all the keys at the driving range and have no key when I play. Having swing thought(s) at address is my worst enemy.

I am basically starting from scratch on my swing, which can be a bit frustrating.
Right now, focus is on the takeaway, as I was waaay inside on my back swing before. One video from GolfTec has told me TONS about what I am doing wrong (IMG:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/style_emoticons/TSG_Smileys/tsg_smiley_crazy.gif)

I have over corrected a slice for so long by keeping my hips parallel to the target, it's gonna take some serious time to fix that!
