What's in the Bag?:
TSG Ho Stuff

I know many have played these wedges but TSG needed an official wedge review thread for these outstanding wedges.

Technity model

Specs: Technity in black finish, 52° with 6° bounce, SW:E4. Shaft is True Temper Black Gold in stiff, plus 1 inch. Lie: 3° flat

First impression I had of this wedge was that it was well made and set up nicely to the ball. The feel of the club however was superb. It easily surpassed my G-Field GFT, kicking it out of the bag. Trajectory of the Technity with the Black Gold was low on full shots but with quite a lot of bite to it. In fact this wedge had the most amount of action of any wedge I've experienced. Even on short touch shots of 10-30 yards the ball would check very quickly with very little roll, much less than one would expect for shots of that short length. The feel of the club gave me a lot of confidence in where the ball would end up.

X-model

Specs: Copper finish, three wedges 50°/6°, 56°/12°, and 60°/6°. Shafts are all True Temper Black Gold with lengths of 36.25", 36", 36" respectively. SW: E2, E4, E4. Lie: 4° flat for all three. The 56 was bent to 55°/11°.

After having experienced the Technity, I decided upon the X-model in copper to be the wedge I would choose in returning to a 60° model. I had changed to a 52,58 makeup in the hopes of eliminating a wedge and adding in an extra utility. However over time I found I missed my 60 too much and wasn't getting what I wanted from my short game. So I ordered a 56 and 60 from Chris with hopes that these wedges would perform and feel as well as the Technity which was now firmly in the bag.

On full shots, I saw the same low trajectory (as the Technity) I was after but with not as much spin. A good thing for my game since I thought the Technity was just a little too much spin than I wanted. The feel of the X-models was very solid and a slight better than the Technity. Both models exceeded my G-Fields. Around the greens these wedges are just money. The look and feel of them inspire confidence and they do just about what you intend them to. The 56 is solid from the sand. The grind on these are subtle but close observation reveals a good deal of heel relief which allows these clubs to be easily opened at address and still be able to get under the ball. The grind is just incorporated into the design so its not as noticiable right off to one's eye. When struck there is no click to be heard at impact. Impact is soft but yet very, very solid. Its not mushy. You know when you've struck it and how you've struck it. Like the Technity the feel of these are simply incredible and a must to be experienced.

Needless to say, I've found the wedges I've been searching for as well as the makeup to my set. I replaced the Technity 52 with another X-model in a 50 degree version. I took the TourStage PW as I didn't feel a need for that club now that I had the 50/55/60 X-models for all my short game needs. Any yardages beyond that which I hit the 50 will be the job for the 9-iron. If I'm in between yardages, I simply choke down on the 9 or saw it off a a little.

These wedges should be on anyone's list in search of new wedges. I can't speak highly enough of these. I really like the feel of the Black Gold shafts in the wedges and the low trajectory is perfect. In fact, it couldn't be more perfect. I found my G-Fields with Nippon 1150's were just way too high for my comfort. Love those shafts in the regular irons, but did not in the wedges. Now I feel I've found in essence a "speciality" wedge shaft which gives me the feedback and feel I'm looking for in the touch shots combined with the low trajectory on 3/4 and full shots. Pitches, flops, sand shots, you name it, these wedges do it all.
