There was a ball test in the May issue of Golf Classic. The test was for 10 of the newest and latest JDM balls with 17 latest JDM drivers. You can figure out the permutations. Perhaps Gocchin can do a translated summary for us.

I didn't grab May's Golf Classic!!! Only got Golf Gear, Golf Digest and Waggle for May! Let me see if I can get it.... Though I think one of the three did do a feature on new balls.

The running bird looks better than the older X8 logo. I hope the ball performs better as well. The last 4 Miz balls were terrible.

Brand of Choice: Mizuno, RC, Srixon, Tourstage, RC, Hiro Matsumoto

What's in the Bag?:
Driver: Mizuno MX-500 9.5*, GD Tour AD M-65x
3W: Royal Collection Pro TP 15*, GD Tour AD M-65x
5W: Mizuno F-50 18*, DGs300
4-PW: Srixon i701, DGs300
52/56/60: Epon Technity satins DGs300
Putter: Hiro Matsumoto MZ-05
Bag: OGIO with 15 slots (always room for 1 more then)
Ball: ProV1

The Srixon is a new ball wrt previous Srixon offerings. It has Z*UR written on the sight line.

I have played both the new Srixon ball and the new TourStage 4 layer ball and they are both extremely good - excellent spin and control. I would rate the Srixon a slightly softer-feeling ball (definitely softer with the putter, and the nicest ball they have made, easily!), but the TourStage is a more durable ball and more clicky and firm to hit - but in a nice way.

TourStage sems a bit longer, but I am currently not driving well enough to measure properly!!

If you normally play the ProV1x then either of these balls will satisfy your needs....you might even get a couple of rounds out of the TourStage.

I also tried the new top-shelf PRGR ball - it is nothing special at all! - scuffs up very easily.
