I picked up a the latest copy of Gocchin's favorite mag in Nagoya a few days ago and the feature story is a shaft test (another one) for 5 different classes of speed rating. I would leave the actual translating to Gocchin but I am suprised (plesantly so) that my Machline 5350 Proto came in a close second to Roddio W5BA (the 2 finalists) but beating out 9 others including the Quattro Tech, Speeder 555 and AXIV V. This is for 'Class 2' competition which is for SS rating of 35 to 40 m/s. While my Machline 5350 is rated #2, it is also $150 cheaper than the Roddio.

For most of you that would be in the Class 3 (40-45 m/s), the Rombax 6X07 S was the winner over Quattro Tech 65 S, the two finalists.

My copy should be here any day now ^^. I've noticed in the issues leading up to the May one that the Rombax and GD are getting lots of rave reviews and showing great results.... can't wait to see this issue!

Is there a 45-50 m/s category? My current swingspeed is 112-117 in mph. It seems that in every class

different shafts come alive that didn't fair as well in different swing speed brackets. I am going buy a high end

shaft for my driver, but want it to be the right fit for swingspeed and launch conditions. Currently I am playing

a Cleveland Hi Bore XL tour 8.5* with a VS Proto 60X shaft. Launch is a little low (10-11*) , and spin is a little

high (3200-3400). Roddio WA, Rombax X series, Quattro Tech, and Ozik Altus on top of my list. What do you

guys think?

Class 4 (s/p 45-48 m/s)
Contenders: Quad 7,GD Proto CP02,PX-1 7001(?), DREV ICN Tour, NSPRO GT700, AXIV V-7072, FSP MX4, Roddio W-W7A, Diamana D75, GD QT 75, Rombax 7X07, Quadra Red Tour X.

Finalists: FSP MX4 and Diamana D75 with FSP the winner.

I have heard the name FSP name for a few years but never seem one on the market. It must be one of the hand made boutique shaft outfit like the NGS but only smaller.

There is the Class 5 for ss over 48 m/s with Diamana D85 the winner in overall performance.

My Japanese is limited but I think the finalists for Class 5 were NSPro Tour 85 X vs. Diamana D85 X.

I assume golf gear is not available in the USA. Are there any spin and launch numbes available in the article? I haven't even

heard of some of the shafts in the test. (IMG:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/style_emoticons/TSG_Smileys/tsg_smiley_crazy.gif) Unfortunately all the shafts tested in the 50 m/s caterory are 80+

grams, and I play 70 grams in the driver... I don't know if the article really helps me? (IMG:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/style_emoticons/TSG_Smileys/tsg_smilie_fever.gif)

On a side note anyone that has played the graphite design pt series and the Quattro Tech series, how much higher will the

quattro tech launch? Will the spin be lower?

Also how does the new Rombax X series compare to Quattro Tech? Spin and feel etc...
