I just found this forum. idrive pointed me here from the the MBworld.org site.
To answer some of the previous questions:
I just happen to go the Japan Golf Fair this year and know some people that work for TMaG in Japan. All the clubs at their booth are Japan spec clubs. Heads are the same as the US, but shafts are different, (usually lighter and less 'stiff' than US spec shafts). They may also use lighter weight cartridges in the Super Quads when sold.
On why we don't see the japan spec stuff over here, for TMaG, the XR line was originally developed for the "older" or senior golfer: non-conforming, much lighter to get ball speed. Also the XR line is priced much, (the XR drivers have been priced between $700 and $1000) and I mean much higher than US. The Japan spec equipment is more expensive to manufacture, and thus the margins probably just won't work in the competitive market in the US. For example, there is a forged r7 iron set that beautiful, but I have been told they are too expensive to make and sell in the US. sometimes you can find this stuff on ebay if you search "taylormade japan".
Now, the accesories, (bags, hats, club covers), for Japan are all Japan spec, meaning TMaG Japan designs and sources these for their own market. For US/Europe, all accessories are exclusively licensed to a company called TMaX Gear, based in Carlsbad. TMaX designs and sources for US/Europe, so all the stuff is different. So all the bags you see in these pics are available only in Japan and somewhat limited in the rest of Asia.
