What's in the Bag?:
Check Out My Sig!

Nothing very new from Mamiya Axiv this year, Axiv technology is being brought to the USA by the ACCRA with Axiv tech line. it is not the same technology nor is it the same specifications. its more so a 4 ply weave shaft with specs that fit higher swing speeds. In the summer the Japanese axiv line will have a new release, not sure on the name or technology being used.

So you're saying Accra shafts are suited for very hard swingers more so than Axiv or Axiv V shafts? I've been wondering that. Thanks.

Is that what you're saying? Accra for faster swings, Axiv great for a little slower?

Think about the market here. Axiv is for the JDM market. That market doesn't have a lot big, burly guys who generate monster swing speed so the shafts will made accordingly. In the US and European markets in which the Accra is marketed, you will find those monster swing speeds a lot more often. Having said that, the Axiv's are still great shafts which I believe would support most swing speeds. I don't think the Accra's would have near the "feel" the Axiv's do but I'm just guessing here.

That is certainly my experience, here in the UK we do have the Accra shafts, which are excellent but they do not have the feel or 'kick' of the Axiv V, the Axiv's, being JDM tend to play a little softer than the US or EU equivalents IMO - a Japanese 'Stiff' shaft is the equivalent of a domestic 'regular/firm' shaft.
I love my Axiv V's, but have just discovered Graphite Designs AD Tour range, I think the ho in me is taking over again, I have this irrestable urge to try a Quttrotech! There really is no hope for me!

Ya, i was thinking about that too. The Japanese aren't typically monsters. I wonder if that goes for Roddio shafts too. I don't want to spend a ton of coin and end up with some girlymon shaft (in an Arnold Swharcbhenrkwbhsjrnffjsnegger accent).

I'll tell you though, the higher end shafts are no girlymon shafts. The one thing I've been very impressed with is the feel I get from the Axiv and GD shafts I use. I know my AxivV can take quite a lot and still perform very well. Its like the saying, "bend but don't break." I've been thinking about it and even with your high swing speed I think the Axiv V8084 would actually suit you nicely. Using you 80-90% I would think that you would like the results very much. With my V8076 I know I could go stiffer, but don't need to because the shaft performs so well. It never leaves me at any point in my swing and I can go at it hard or smooth. Shaft kicks nicely at the bottom. I want to get a new driver with a GD QuattroTech but honestly, I don't need to because the current one still performs very, very well.

all I can say about Axiv is that I hit my 7072 Axiv V better than any shaft on the market and I have tried every brand of shaft out there except Roddio, I guess it is about time for me to try a Roddio out
