I have been playing with a TM R7 XR with Axiv shaft 6064M for about 5 months. Prior to the Axiv, I have been a shaft junkie trying myriads of sticks including Speeder 757, Adila, Fujikura Tour Platform 26.3, Fit Six etc...
I find the Axiv shaft the most amazing with at least 10% gain in distance and it is very consistent with trajectory, ball control with outstanding hang time. However, the most important factor for me is the fairway landing stat off the tee which is like night and day when compared to all shafts I have tried. Awesome !!! |

My SS is 100 - 105 with slow tempo --- 14 'capper with no putting skills. I have been playing with Fuji 757 & Fit On Six for awhile before Axiv. The Axiv's kick is more lively & smooth. Most (if not all) of the holes at my home course favor draw shots off the Ts and I am now a lot more at ease in working the ball on this course with the Axiv shaft. |

Any opinion on ball flight? Mid or high? Thanks Very good question. Mid ball flight with the Axiv. The main reason I was experimenting with various shafts was high ball flight even though I was playing a 9* loft. My ball flight now is quite a bit more consistent. |

So my Mamiya Axiv 6564M came last week. There was a “defect” in the R7 425 I ordered to christen this new shaft so I pulled the Diamana 83 and put the Axiv in my R5TP. Truth be told, I wasn’t in the market for a new shaft or driver, but after hearing all the ra ra about the Axiv on TSG, the Ho got the better of me. :tsg_smiley_embarrassed:
I had it frequency checked before I installed it, and it came in at 6.4 on the number – nice mid-stiff. It took me about 20 minutes on the range to get used to the lighter shaft, which I compensated for in part by installing some heavier plugs into the head of my R5. However, once my tempo came back online I started launching missiles. I mean rocket shots. This shaft swings in a way that almost makes you feel on first swing as if the flex is off. Not so. The kick is just sooo smooth and the shaft loads so efficiently. So I played with it on Friday and was easily getting 15 yards more CARRY – 20 on my best shots. This shaft combined with the relatively hot face of the R5 were just raining bombs all over the course. I was getting total distance gains of 25yrds. I hit 11/14 fairways. Moreover, I didn’t see any of the purported loss of accuracy and had a gentle cut working. One of my misses came from driving the fairway. Thinking that I might have just been on yesterday, this morning I took it to the driving range. I hit the net at the back on the 1ST SWING (270 carry). Hit some chips, and then I did it again. (IMG:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/style_emoticons/TSG_Smileys/tsg_smiley_gun.gif) Just like there seems to be a golf shot every round that keeps you coming back for more, there’s a purchase every once in a while that ratifies the Ho. This is such a purchase. I understand that the hardest part of playing an Axiv is getting the right. After talking with Chris and a bunch of you, I went with the 65g 6.4 flex with a torque of 3.5. I have a SS of 105mph with a moderately aggressive move to the ball. The 6564M is PERFECT for me, so hopefully that can provide a benchmark for those of you interested in the shaft. In any case, I never would have known of the Axiv if it weren't for TSG. :atsg_smilie_bomb1: I wanted to tell you that this is one piece of equipment that lives up to the hype. Thanks to Chris and all else who helped with this choice. (IMG:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/style_emoticons/TSG_Smileys/tsg_smiley_wiz.gif) The shaft is awesome! Which leads me to say the Axiv MUST be the goods! :tsg_smilie_cool: |

I'm looking to re-shaft a TM R7 with a Avix. Currently this driver has the stock Fuji shaft in Reg/flex. My ball flight is lower than most so I'd like to see a higher ball flight. Swing speed is right around 90-100mph. Can anyone recommend which Axiv? Also, the TM R7 has a .350 hosel so is it a big deal to shim this? Don't worry I'm not shafting this, I just want to make sure that shimming this for a .350 hosel will work with no problems. Thanks for any input. Happy Holidays!!

I am currently playing a Titleist 983k 10.5, with the Graphite Design YS6 that was in it when I bought it. I have been looking for a new shaft to give me some extra distance and was curious which one I should go with.
My ss is 110, but I tend to hit the ball with a lower trajectory (I've always lived in the wind). Also, is this reshaft something I should trust the local clubmaker with? I'd hate to invest $300 and have him screw it up. |
