OH, MAN I LOVE THESE SHAFTS. I'VE SEARCHED FOR A LONG TIME TO FIND A SHAFT THAT PLAYS, LOOKS AND FEELS THIS GOOD. THE PROTO/NV (OR GREEN LIZARD) COMES IN A LARGE VARIETY OF WEIGHTS, FROM 65 GRAMS TO 100+. I HAVE A 65-S IN MY 983K AND AN 85-S IN MY GBB II AND BOTH ARE THE BEST SHAFTS I'VE PLAYED. BOTH SHAFTS ARE VERY RESPONSIVE, SUPER FEELING AND PRODUCE A BALL FLIGHT THAT IS NOTHING SHORT OF PERFECT. THE COLOR IS VERY EYE-CATCHING BUT DEFINATELY NOT DISTRACTING.

THE HIGH KICK POINT PRODUCES A VERY LOW TUMBLING FLIGHT THAT REALLY ALLOWS YOU TO MAXIMISE THE ROLL ON THE FAIRWAY. SINCE I HAVE BEEN PLAYING THE ALDILA I HAVE COMPLETELY ELIMINATED THE DREADED HIGH BALLOON, SO COMMON WITH THE STOCK OEM SHAFTS. THE HEAVIER 85-S SHAFT FEELS JUST LIKE THE 65-S, BUT SINCE THE TORQUE IS LOWER I CAN GO AFTER IT A BIT MORE AND FIND THE FAIRWAY WITH MORE CONSISTENCY. THE DISPERTION IS PRETTY TIGHT AND VERY REPEATABLE. THESE ARE THE ONLY SHAFTS I HAVE HAD IN MY BAG THAT I CAN COMPLETELY TRUST TO STAY AWAY FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GOLF COURSE (PROVIDING I PUT A GOOD SWING ON IT).

ALDILA GREEN PROTO/NV SHAFTS ARE GREAT FOR PLAYERS OF ALL SKILL LEVELS AND SWING SPEEDS. OVERALL RATING 5/5

I would agree with this rating. I tried other shafts...harrison 2.5, graffaloy prolite elite and others...won't pay 250 for a fuji. This shaft is the best I have ever used. The ball flight is great and it has that trajectory everyone desires. No more yelling fore lord when the baloon ball takes off in my old drivers. This one is sweet!

Can anyone here describe the differences in the 5 weights - I was told once that they all play differently and it wasn't due to the weight.

What's in the Bag?:
5-AW Ping Rapture J
Ping Eye 2+ Sand
Callaway X-Forged 60*
TM Burner Rescue 3 & 4
Callaway ERC 3+/757 stiff
TM SQ 10.5*/Aldila Proto 'by-you' 65 stiff

I'm trying the 85 stiff in my Nike T40 tour 4 wood and so far I like it very much. It compares favorably to the high end Fujis which I play in the rest of my woods (757,869,Pro 95).

Just got done fine tuning my 65 s for my TM 510 TP - tipped about ¾ of an inch. I say about as I use a tip weight and that has a bit of an effect. Anyway just got back from the range and grant it is only 35* outside – the club has become a whole different animal. The 757 was O.K. but the higher toque of the 65 S and lightness has help me get this club going. Definitely worth the $$$.

The first post I made on this topic was only about my driver. I also have a NV in my tour rescue 2fw (14.6* loft). This shaft also deserves nothing but praise. The ball comes off quite lively and I like the heavier weight in my "fairway wood".

Anyone tried this .335 shaft yet in one of their drivers. I would like to know your impressions. Will you get a few more MPH. My current SS is 109mph and wouldn't mind a few more if this light weight will do the trick.
Plan to try it in a 510DF Proto.

I got one ready in a TM 540XD Tour 10.5º at 44.5" at D4. The 540XD Tour is a heavy head (208g) so the club finished out to the length and swingweight I wanted. I am supposed to play tomorrow and plan an on course trial with this club vs. my current setup which is a Tour 983K 10.5º with an NV 65.

I'm curious to see how the NV 55 actually feels. I'll try and get you some opinions after I get some swings under my belt with it.

I should have also mentioned, my SS is similar to yours as it was measured on a simulator this winter (at Golfsmith FWIW) at 112 mph (average of lots of swings when I was demo'ing drivers).

Way to light if you swing fast enough to be X flex you should hit a much heavier shaft.

Honestly the shaft that comes standard in retail heads IMHO is very poor. They have a contract with manafacturers and make huge qtys of shafts, thats why you see them so much. I caddied for a friend of mine on tour and one of the other players in the group had an NV in a Ping g2 he hit them every where. After the game I made him a bet, I bet him a beer and dinner that I could fix his driver. To cut a long story short I PUT A v2 75g in his club and went to the range. He didn't say this is a great shaft he just swore for 10 minutes at how many shots the NV had cost him. I just don't like these shafts compared to others.
