Since a recent trip to a launch monitor for a swing analysis and mini-lesson I’ve been looking for lower torque new shaft, under 3*, for my Cleveland Launcher 460. I play to a 5 handicap, my swing speed averages 105+ and I generally play a light fade. I got the shaft in yesterday, stiff flex, and shimmed it into the head with a .335 to .350 ferrule/sleeve, used slow set epoxy with beads and then put on a Lamkin Crossline grip. I had been looking at the Accra and Graf Blue shafts but Accra is “assembled only” (bad idea in my opinion) and $200 (I can get another Evolution for that much!) and the Blue I had in another club was like hitting a 2x4.

Made it to the range and only had an hour to hit. After a nice slow warm-up I finally decided to let loose with the driver. The one word that came to mind after five solid shots is “stunning.” It’s stunning because my experience with lower torque shafts in the past has been that they are definitely boardy if you don’t aggressively load them. The Evolution is nothing like this. It’s a stout shaft but very active through the hitting zone and I feel like it returns the club back to it’s address position when coming into impact. Ball flight seems to be a lot more penetrating and just a bit lower than the old Fuji, which had a tendency to get up, flatten and then just drop. I was getting at least 10-15 yards of roll after the ball hit in a fairly moist range area. I’m also seeing a lot less travel from side to side so the spin seems to have been cut down a bit. The worst shots came when I got stuck behind the ball and I would get a wicked slice but that’s more my swing fault and not the shaft.

Tomorrow and Saturday will be 18 holes each so hopefully I’ll have more to report on this great addition to my bag.

Curious as to what Fuji's you have tried or any other shafts you can compare it to.

The only Fuji shafts I've hit have been stock in the Launcher 460, 400 and the Speeder in a Titleist 983E. The gold Fuji shafts in the Clevelands were pretty good but the didn't seem to like being hit hard. If you were agressive into the ball and not perfectly square it seemed that they really hooked hard left or sliced right. This shaft seems to cut down the spin a bit and I'm getting a much tighter dispersion across the fairway.

The Speeder in the 983E seemed a little brittle to me and I never really liked the feel of it.

Well was getting a little stir crazy yesterday so had to go to the range and hit balls. The weather – well was just damn cold like 17 degrees. But really wanted to hit some balls and try out the Accuflex Evolution in my 540 DF. Just for reference prior to the Evo I had an Aldila NVS75 stiff in the driver.

I have the driver set up at 45” and D4 swing-weight. I did not like the NVS as it seemed too loose for a driver un-tipped. The Evo seems much more stout even just waggling the shaft. Even prior to giving it a run I thought it would be too stiff. Well to my surprise the shaft just flat out performs. You do not feel allot of kick but the ball just flies. The tip is nice and firm but not like re-bar. Taking a smooth swing produced nice straight shots with a little draw. Taking a rip at the ball suprisingly produced a fade.

The shaft is no the end all to shafts – but is definitely at the top of the list. For me shaft performed better than the NVS and NV by a long shot. In comparison to the Fuji Six X that I had in my 510 TP the Evo was much more controllable with a flatter trajectory and better distance.

for a 105mph ss mid ball flight hitter, will this shaft play very well in my 540xd tp. i like the feeling of my NVS now, its soft. how would this shaft ( i know theyre different) campare to the NVS?

do you think hte evo will out perform the nvs?

Evo feels more stout than the NVS - lower trajectory in the 540 - but the shaft feel more solid thna the aldila IMO.

I am purchasing a 905T with a YS-7 stiff, but was considering a different shaft for the larger head. I have used the YS-7 in many prior Titleist heads. I have read alot of good things about the AccuFLEX Evolution. If anyone has any recommendations about this shaft or what flex I should use in the Evolution (YS-7 has R, S, SX, X so the stiff is a little softer then most stiff flex), I would love to hear them. I would also like to hear alternative shafts to my YS-7.

I've had my evo in a SMT HP420 for a couple of months and it's truly a great shaft married to a superb head.

I spent a lot of time with the fitter, Midas Golf in Huddersfield, talking about what flex to install. My swing records a speed averaging 110 and in the end took the advice of Shaun at Midas and installed a reg flex and have been amazed and just how able to cope this flex is in this shaft.

My driving stats have increased in length which wasn't something I was actually after, and accuracy. I've jumped around 20% for hitting fairways and the great thing is, I have a late hit and I'm now able to shape my driver - something I've never been able to do before.

Buying one of these shafts won't exactly break the bank so my advice is buy one, install it and if you don't like it someone will definately buy it from you.

 I was in the golf shop today waggling the Taylors with the Diamana shaft and also the SMT with the Accuflex. I was considering installing a Diamana in my KZG, however after waggling both the Accuflex felt superior. Maybe it is just a feel thing but the Accuflex felt stronger.

Does anyone have any ideas on the cpms on the Accuflex. Good chance one of these will be finding a home in my KZG.

I have seen the regular flexes in the mid 250 range, which is normally stiff. The stiffs have been hitting in the mid 260's. Give or take a few cpm's on either one.
