They seem to just grab the clubface on short chips around the green. And off the driver they fly long and true, and do not seem to spin too much. I just wish they didn't scuff up so easily. I haven't tried the new anti scuff ones yet...

i tried the hogan balls and i found them to be too soft. i loved the control and feel i got around the green but i spun them way to much on full shots. the apex tour ball reminds me of the nike tw. the cover is also way to soft. if you have a good ball striking day you will rip these to ribbons in less than 9 holes. feel-10, control-8, distance-8, drability-5
pretty good but the price of them means i will spend my money on the hx or pro v1x, they are just plain better - faygo |

I agree that the durability of the Hogan ball is a problem, but it is the best feeling ball around the green. Full iron shots will shred the cover. This ball is very similar in performance off the tee as the Pro V1X. If they could fix the cover, it would be the only ball that I would play.

1 iron shot does it for me on these hogans. I did like them around the greens, but doesn't help much when I got 3 lines in the back of my ball...

How about this?
In Michigan they are doing all sorts of ground maintenance, spreading fertilizer on greens, etc. Anyway, last week I didn't clean my ball offf after it hit the green, and when I hit it with my putter it went sideways! Stunned, I picked it up and found a piece of fertilizer wedged into one of the cuts made by the grooves of my approach iron. That's what my putter hit and it squirted the ball damn near sideways. :x |

Found one friday and played for a couple of holes... actually two and then it was looking like a tennis ball! You can really spin the crap out of this ball. I hit a full 7i onto to a green and the thing did the can can up there as it walked back about 4 ft. With the Pro V1 I usually back it up 1ft or less, it usually just checks.
I think it was too much spin for me. I'll stick with the good ole V1. |
