Picked up a GBB II 8 Degree with a factory installed Grafalloy Blue Stiff shaft. I had demoed a 10.5 with the same shaft and liked it but my ball flight was too high and balloning with that loft.
I managed to play my first 9 holes with it yesterday. First drive was 264 yards and dead straight. I aimed for a large bunker that was 260 yards away and landed between that bunker and another. I use a SkyGolf GPS so I know I'm within a couple of yards. I then caught one solid on a 525 par 5 and had 210 to the hole. The thing I like best is my trajectory is better with this setup. I can still cut corners over trees on doglegs. The best thing about the GBBII is when you don't hit the hot spot. The ball still goes straight and about 245 yards for me. I had the same distance with my 983e/983k on solid hits but on mis**ts, I was penalized more with the Titleist. |

Played 18 holes yesterday and the pressure was on since I was playing with the club pro.
The GBB II with the Grafalloy Blue shaft is defineately staying in the bag. I didn't use my GPS but I was consistently 10 yards behind or even with the pro to where I am usually 25 yards behind. I did come up about 10 feet short on driving a 297 yard dogleg par 4 with the carry all over water. I landed in the second cut and plugged. I also smacked one on a 489 par 5 to the 140 yard mark. I ended up missing a 10 footer for my first eagle but settled for birdie. I guess technology really helps. My swing speed is consistently at 105 mph with a smooth tempo and I was using a Strata Tour Ace. |

i just got a tour gbb II last week and i am very happy with it. i have been playing a 983K for a while now and i just don't get the length that i'd like. the callaway (8.5 pro series with aldila prototype 85-s) hits a very boring ball flight that is loaded with top spin for those extra yards of run on the fairway. i think i may have to give up a little bit of accuracy that i had with the titleist, but as we all know 10-15 yards is well worth it. the callaway is very forgiving as it is pretty deep in the toe and in the heel. from address it just looks like a club that you want to hit. the deep blue color is gorgeous and pretty unique amongst most of the top drivers at the moment.
overall i would rate this club very highly and certainly longer than the 983K. i feel that this driver has been seriously over-rated by many people. i don't suppose the terrible stock callaway shaft helps it's cause. a definite winner that will be in my bag for a while. and that's saying something! |

this had to be my most underrated driver of the year - I have a friend thats on the irish team and is like just pure class. anyways, he got this GBII set up from the tour van (i just realised it was tour) with a 757X. i was hitting lovely flighted drives with this club - flat trajectory and no shape tendencies. fair enough the X was a bit too much for me, but to be honest i loved it. maybe there is something to playing the stiffest shaft you can control.
on a side note - are cally tour issues more solid than retail? this one certainly felt it, but that could well be the shaft. |

I really didn't care for the GBBII. I didn't like the pearish like shape. It felt ok, but it just didn't do it for me.
However, the 415 looks better, more Fusion, VFT like and feels better. It doesn't even seem that it's that much bigger. If I had to use another driver, this would be it. Even the Cally staffers seem to like this better than the smaller version..... |

I recently went to a Callaway demo day where I tested all driver/shaft configurations. In the end I opted for a GBBII 415 with a Speeder 757 in S flex. My only complaint was that this driver cost an absolute fortune even at trade prices. However, I've had it now for about 2 months and have knocked 2 shots off my handicap. It just exudes confidence on the tee and I'm now hitting gentle draws and consequently more fairways. Definitely a winner in my book, just can't understand why no one seems to like them, resale values are pathetic. STRANGE....

I switched recently also to a gbb II 415 with a 757 in S-flex. Awesome driver, awesome combo. Silly easy to hit and super long. But I'm still not drawing it yet. :-D For some strange reasons I have serious problems with the driver. The 415 helps me to keep it on this planet. Btyw, got lucky with what I paid for it. Callaway reduced the price here in Canada drastically, plus they made a mistake (big one!!!) with the amount for the shaft up charge. About a month before I ordered I had a local store (Golf Town) here in Toronto getting a quote for me from Callaway. With taxes it was $800 CDN. I ended up getting it (also at Golf Town, just a different branch) for $364 CDN, taxes included. :smile2: :smile2: :smile2: haribo |
