seriously, after that golf magazine ranked epon 301 2.5 stars out of 5... it sorta take me back alittle
and makes me wonder alot...
i have read alot of ppl on this forum saying heavenly, godly, and purely appreciation words for JDM clubs
i wanted to get one of these too...
but then i realised that they are always the same people saying the same thing...
its pure butter... beauty... smooth as baby's butt...nothing comes close...
but then again, if i spend thousands of dollars, i will be biased too...
in the magazine... it says that the price of epon 301 is way too high, and yet nothing really stands out.
i just dont know man...
and if its that good of a club, why is everyone selling their used clubs?
because the new ones are better? who is spending 800 every 2-3 months when a new club comes out?!!!
shaft i can understand, simply because ppl on the tour is using them too,
diamana, matrix, GD and such ...
but JDM irons and driver, or putter and for its price....
...........
just one question, tour players who signed contracts with any US companies are not require to use all 14 clubs from the same maker...
in that case, who in the top 20 is using any JDM clubs? for it to be a putter, a single 2, 3, 4 iron , or driver
pls enlighten me
thanks

Its not the cost of the clubs which makes me biased. Its the feel I get from them and the performance in my game. Please understand from my point of view, I've been golfing for 20 years now. I know what I like and what works. Before I became enamored with JDM I was a Titleist man. Then I came across Sonartec back when they were just beginning. I found Fujikura Speeder shafts and I began to wonder if clubs could get better. I was at a point a few years back when the golf gear I was using just didn't satisfy me. I wanted something better and I didn't know where to turn. Three summers ago, I went to Japan to visit relatives. I came across the very same TourStage X-blades that grace my bag now. When I returned to the States, these clubs haunted me and I searched everywhere to find them. I happened across this site, poured through the forums and eventually contacted Chris. The rest is history. The very first time I hit these X-Blades they were like no other club I had used to date. My Titleist 690MB's became history.

The top players play the clubs they're paid to play. Pure and simple. But you must remember, these clubs the top players play aren't made in the same foundries that US domestic clubs are made in. The top players' clubs are made in Japan mostly by Endo. They are made to the specifications from the US domestic companies but at much stricter tolerances. The JDM clubs we play here are made to those same tolerances.

Why do many here buy and sell so many clubs. Its simple. Many here just love this equipment and love to try as many as they can. So in order to stave off some of the cost members here sell clubs often so as to buy new ones coming out. As for myself, while I do own a few different clubs, I've changed little in the past few years of using JDM. I've been very lucky to find what works. Still though, I always want to improve and if I see a club I think could be even better, I'll get it.

The other day I went into a local proshop to hit a couple different drivers and irons. Not one club I hit gave me the feedback, joy and satisfaction that the clubs in my bag currently do. My love for the game became renewed the first time I hit JDM clubs and has grown steadily ever since. True, these clubs aren't for everyone. Most will do just fine with US domestic and that's fine. As for my game though, only one opinion matters. And that opinion is that there is no better club out there right now than what is offered by going JDM. As for that magazine article, just remember that as members here can be biased by what they like, magazines can be biased by who's paying the bills. I don't really buy that article or give it much credit.

Good luck to you.

I live in Indonesia and about half of the available equipment is imported from Japan, the other half from the US (which seems strange as the bulk is made in China!?!?!) Anyway, I really like japanese equipment, irons in particular, but in my heart of hearts I know that regardless of what I put in my bag, or what a tour pro puts into their bag, or how much money I spend on equipment to "buy" a game, in the end it is the monkey at the end of the stick that makes the difference regardless of what they are holding...beautiful clubs enhance the enjoyment of the game and well crafted equipment is always a pleasure to use...quality clubs, clubfitting, tinkering, it is all part of the golfing experience for me...
